That’s an imaginary threshold… a business can/will report any amount that seems suspicious rather it’s 7k or 10k

It's not. It's the threshold where it has to be reported whether suspicious or not. Thanks for playing

Ain’t no threshold… Circle K can file a 8300 form if you spend 700$ and they deem it suspicious

My favorite thing about the OT is how an interesting thread dies down and then its just a couple of dudes arguing over some unrelated point.

In this case:

A. Is she hot or not? (Classic OT)

B. How does a SAR work?

almost every thread that goes past 3 pages ends up in 2, maybe 3 guys, in a dick whipping contest

Never, ever put over $10,000 down at a car dealership

I've paid cash for every new vehicle since 1984. Never had an issue.

The shirt says Escobar season apparently. Rule #1 if you are running a drug ring...don't look like you could possibly run a drug ring.

I get you saying 10k is the amount that has to be reported regardless of suspicion… my point was a business or seller could basically deem any amount suspicious and file an 8300

Which was in response to my original post that said any business collecting over 10K HAS to report it. The word HAS does a lot of work toward implying that it is in fact a 10K threshold that requires reporting.

This. If you have illegal money and want to put a big down payment on it, go buy a vehicle in a private sale with the cash then trade that vehicle in

I spoke to Frank a few times and asked him what kind of work he did. His response was “ Um import/export. The neighbors think I’m a drug dealer.”

99/100 anything claiming to be “import/export” is a fraud or front.

I've got a house in my neighborhood i suspect of doing the same thing. I've been living here for 7 years and not once have i ever saw a single soul in the house. In the summer, the birds live on the side balcony. It's a nice house too, or could be nicer if someone actually lived in it.

Not just that, don't try to move more than $9,999 in cash anywhere if you don't want it audited.

Unless of course you are a Somalian travelling through a Minnesota airport with a suitcase full of cash. That is allowed.
