Still wild for it to cost this much.

Many Texas kids end up at these schools for a few reasons.
1. A&M is A&M. No explanation needed.
2. Austin is too liberal and too much of a big city feel.
They end up at these schools because they can’t get in the two you mentioned

This is very much true.
It’s sad, but A&M is several levels above LSU. And then the Longhorns are well above A&M.

why do you keep doubling down on stupid? You have no idea what you are talking about and it’s hilarious how confident you are in your wrongness
What I have read is included as part of this build is a mobility hub. It’s basically an air conditioned bus stop with WiFi, which I think is great, but is not going to be money generating.
From everything else I have found available, nothing else is covered, so care to explain how I am doubling down? Literally every media outlet is stating the same thing.
Mobility hub will not make money. Dorms and likely some including food or coffee options will obviously.
Again, I am not against this, LSU needs more housing if they are going to increase enrollment (of which I am not a fan). If they are, however, then adequate housing needs to be in place.
The point is that nothing else has been stated or shown at least easily accessible to show otherwise it including anything more.
That means it is a long term investment that will take time to pay off. It doesn’t make it a bad idea nor does it make it well priced. They need it, but it is going to cost a bunch.

Why are they wasting money on dorms when they can use it to improve athletic facilities?
We need chairbacks in the Box.
That would be comfortable.
The students can sleep on the street.

Say goodnight to every other public college in Louisiana. Insane money grab complete.

Fun fact: LSU had 57,000 applicants for the 2025 freshman class and accepted 7500. Pretty cool
Common app impact. LSU still far behind most other SEC schools in terms of academic reputation

How will LSU house the AI bots that will take the 1,200 X forever jobs?

“Where they always do, in the classrooms.”

For $215 million they could likely have bough all the trash, rundown homes between I10 and campus and really make a difference on the future outlook of LSU
Posted on 6/30/25 at 1:16 am to John_V
For that much, they might have bought out Tigerland to gentrify it.

The problem is that they are not building many more classrooms with the nearly doubling of the student population from when I went to LSU.
I am a casual campus observer but in 20 years they’ve built a new business school bldg, school coast and environment bldg, doubled the size of the engineering school building, expanded the vet school, are building a huge new science building where the dairy school was, turned the Huey Long pool into some kind of academic bldg, and have the architecture building undergoing renovations while planning a new huge library…it seems like they are when you step back for a sec and think about it.

Co-worker son who grew up in Katy went to LSU over the Texas schools. In his words after he came back from a visit before deciding, LSU has a lot of scholarship money to give to Texas students and was actively recruiting him to come from Texas. There are not enough kids coming from Louisiana schools to fill the freshman class with the quality that they want.

The state should buy Tigerland and build dorms in that area.
It would get rid of the Section 8 trash, while simultaneously solving a housing issue.
Just my .02.

It checks out though. I worked on a project that was 600 beds and $100M for UT systems.

More dorms are needed. Currently there is 0 available student housing right now

My understanding is that LSU lowballs Louisiana kids who are high achieving.
They get TOPS and shite past that, while other in state schools and out of state schools will throw money at them.
Throwing money at Texas kids is still a winning proposition for them if they are paying some level of out of state tuition and are having to pay for services that locals wouldn’t.
