If anyone is in charge, they need to send an update or the citizens of BR can file a complaint to the city attorney

This is what happens when you try to create “a natural environment” in an environment that no longer supports the natural way.

They are trying to create all these sanctuaries and make the lakes natural. They aren’t natural anymore. They are makes in the middle of a city. Dig them out and bullhead the entire thing and be done with it.

They are doing this crap to city park now too. I went online and took the BREC questionnaire and every question kept coming back to some form of “natural nature preserve”. It was 100% obvious by that questionnaire that no matter what the citizens want, a “natural” city park is coming. They akready know what they want.

They did this same project in the 80s but completely drained them to do it.

It was a much faster project then, but the smell was terrible.

SASAKI Master Design firm awarded the project

“Sasaki will be setting a long-term framework for the full reconstruction of the lake system which will consist of dredging the lake bottom and reshaping the banks to create a more robust and sustainable ecological condition,” says Denver office co-director Anna Cawrse.

“At the same time we will be weaving in recreational amenities that support a diverse cross section of people,” says Denver office co-director Joshua Brooks. “This will be a major undertaking, but one that will result in a dynamic public realm amenity for Baton Rouge.”

Phase I kicked off with due diligence in and around the lakes. Soon the team will be engaging with the community and generating concept designs for the 10-mile waterfront around the lake system.

Contact these three and let them know we want updates. Enough with the pretty renderings, show us real life pics

should we at least wait until the project is finished before passing judgment?

I'm interested in seeing the finished product

I've been watching the "progress" bringing my daughter to Lab the past couple of years. It looks like they're reenacting the movie Holes, except in water.

They could’ve filled the frickers in by now and got rid of the eyesore once and for all.

Pretty sure my dad and his friends are the reason they will never allow motorized watercraft in the lake ever again.

Oh yeah? Well when I was college a couple of my friends put motorized landcraft in the lake.

There’s a nice curve on sorority row that’s hard to navigate dropping your date off after going out.

No one got in trouble. It was a different time back then. A golden age of “boys will be boys. As long as they don’t hurt anyone.”

It would appear that Joshua Brooks has adopted Les Milesian vernacular when public speaking.

100's of successful ecological urbanism projects at this scale done around the world says you're wrong, but whatever.

As someone who practiced landscape architecture in Louisiana for a while, the problem is Louisiana. I could design the exact same project in two places, say Texas vs Louisiana. I guarantee you the one TX looks and functions better at the start and throughout the life of the design.

That said, I won't judge this project until it's been complete for a few years. These things take time. If I remember correctly ,Sasaki is the landscape architect on the job, and they have traditionally done very solid work.

Beyond that, people keep pretending like it’s done, when it’s not close to done.
