Internet setups that let kid's pick a # of schools they want to look into. So now kid's can pick several schools, mostly that they aren't really interested in attending, and that counts as an application.
That's a crazy # of applications. Does this block spots for local kids that are on the bubble to get in?

HBCUs probably get lots of applications.

why does the number of applicants matter? applications do not equal enrolled students
3.1 mil in application fees

What am I missing? Only 5800 graduated? Is that normal? Seems extremely low to me regardless of the number of applicants.
Not really. 34,500 students in undergrad. 5800 (say each class graduates that number) x 4= 23,200 (over a 4 year span)....and that doesn't take into account those who graduate in summer or in the fall. That 5800 number is just spring commencement

Bama got 60,000 applicants. UCLA got 100,000 applicants.
UCLA gets far more than 100,000 applicants. They received 147,000 first year applications and over 30,000 transfer applications.

Is this the last year that the school is not considering ACT/SAT scores for admission? I think the last president was finding more ways to "diversify" the university, and doing away with test scores as criteria helped with that.

Yeah I wouldn't look too far into gross application numbers. There has been a similar trend in job applications as well. It's not very hard to have claude apply to 100 places for you, and people are doing the same thing for college applications.
The % of kids who actually choose to go to the school is a better metric.
There's a reason most of the SEC schools still have sky high acceptance rates. If LSU is accepting 3/4 of the 60k kids that apply, do the math on how many get accepted and don't attend.
That's why the more prestigious state schools are forced to reject more kids. The kids would actually attend if accepted

I was one of those degrees but I was ChemE. From college dropout in a much easier degree to military and then graduate now. Definitely didn't myself favors getting deployed halfway through. Now it's time for a civilian job.

There's a flood of people sending their kids to the south to avoid indoctrination.
Them southern girls got these boys all twisted up too. Being normal, good looking women not expecting them to go on marches and color their hair purple. frick I'd come down here too if I was in New Jersey
