Because we are in the bottom 10 in illegal aliens. Democrat hell holes are replacing people/voters with illegal aliens. They created Sanctuary Cities for a reason.

that means more people are choosing to stay in Mississippi than La.
Well MS is actually making some improvements and progress. I believe they jumped from near dead last in education to middle of the pack after adjusting course a few years back.

My brother and I just had this conversation yesterday. Everything is online now and good prices then you hit the shipping button or you have to order a minimum amount and it's not worth it.

From Hammond?
It is somewhat of an upgrade. The Portiers recently moved up that way

This state isn’t really a good fit for me either but here I am.

People wouldn’t be leaving if Texas and Florida and Georgia weren’t right there… we’d be fine if there was average states next door

I feel bad for people that have to move to Houston to get good jobs.
There’s no way I would let a job dictate where I live.

Even our nation’s poorest states are pretty wealthy. We are blessed to be in this country.

Chances are you'll hear things like
"He's one of us"
"I know his family and they good people"
"I used to hunt with his brother in law"
"His mom taught me in the second grade"
Not their economic plans or their management experience.
Never heard the first one.
When you come from a small town or area, you're bound to know a bunch of people.
In contrast, in growing areas like Ascension, nobody really knows their neighbors. Sure they'll be little cliques in subdivisions, but generational families knowing each other,? That's gone

It’s not Landry that’s making people move out.

Someone moving in oder to better provide for their family is far more noble than staying put for the myriad of reasons people never leave their hometown.

Been in the Acadiana area my entire life (58 years), but both of my children want to leave the state. They are 28 and 22 and the only other thing keeping my wife and I here is my elderly dad and her mother. We both would leave to be closer to the kids and future grandkids. We like the idea of a place with actual seasons or proximity to nice beaches. The hardest part would be employment since we are both retired educators with no desire to go back into that profession. We support ourselves with a small lawn and landscape business now and I love the freedom that gives us, but I’m sure it would be challenging to try to start that from scratch in an unfamiliar place. It is exciting to think of a change of scenery and that life in another state could be an interesting way to live out whatever time we have left!

You pay a premium to live in this crap state. Insurance is outrageous. Schools are crap. Roads are horrible. You have to deal with a Hurricane every other year. In south LA if you don't like swamp there is no interesting terrain. I've wanted to leave for the last 10 years years but are helping take care elderly MIL and Mother. Now we are stuck here until the inevitable happens. We are around 4 years away from retirement and I've made it clear. We have lived in this state long enough and as soon as we can we are gone.

Really sad man. Most of the neighborhoods are all old people now. No disrespect to old people but it’s depressing as hell all the families with young kids are gone. Dying cities. Dying culture. I hate it. I really do. Can’t think about it.

We lead the nation in single parent households.
I tell my kids routinely. Do not stay here for me and mom. If you leave and want to come back fine. But go where there is opportunity. My primary motivation for traveling a couple times a year while they are in school is so they know what the rest of the country looks like.
