We have decided to leave in 2026.

Time is too precious. Louisiana going backwards.

Meanwhile, every week the OT will have threads about how shitty Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Florida are compared to Louisiana.

Louisiana’s number one export is college degrees. But at least the state taxpayers foot the bill for them first.

Legislators seem to forget that graduates need jobs after school.

Investing in "education" without equal emphasis on building up the economy leads to a brain drain.

Can't wait to add to this number. Unfortunately I have a few more years left.

that means more people are choosing to stay in Mississippi than La. Now that I think about it I know 3 people that have moved from LA to the Hattiesburg area and love it

I left Louisiana in 1999 and moved to Texas. It was life changing and took my career to a place Louisiana never could. I moved to Hattiesburg in 2022 and hate it. I live in The Trace. I love my house and property but it’s a boring arse town. We’ve done all three of the things there are to do around here. Moving to the Ocean Springs area within the next six months.

Less people per sq mile sounds good to me. More room for deer to roam

That’s not a bad reason at all. Your parents won’t be around forever.

My kids made it easy. They left first and we followed. The concession to our moms is we always go home for Christmas.

Yeah you have like 3 fields you can work in. Petroleum, Healthcare or Education.. and we are near the bottom when it comes to healthcare and education.. I like being from Louisiana, but when my mom passes away I will highly consider bouncing.

This is a good way to describe this state. Most people like being from here - we have a unique culture and that is increasingly rare in this country.

The state Fn sucks though. The fishing is excellent and everything else is awful.

yep. i actually enjoy being around my parents and i have a great social circle.

i actually really enjoy living in Louisiana and alot of it is what you make of it.....to an extent....some things though, like constant culture, are unavoidable day to day no matter where you live. Just from having to go to the store etc

the trashiness is unavoidable at times.

First, I’m not sure that these estimates are close to accurate. Second, the outward migration changed in 2025. You’ll see that in 2026 when the report or can determine the actual numbers.

Keep shitting on Louisiana though. We don’t want cucks here anyway unless your wife is hot and we’re banging.

Got my new homeowners invoice this morning and it was a $3k increase to $10k. Would be a good reason to leave if I was on the fence. No claims since a small one for Ida in 2021. Just absurd.

Makes sense. There are a few cities where the residents are very good at killing each other.
