Thanks
I am in the market and like to take pictures of animals and plants in nature. I have a Nikon D60 with a zoom lense, and it does a good job, but it seems like it has been struggling lately for various reasons. Lots of glitches and lense detachments. I was thinking it might be time to upgrade soon.

I posted this several pages back. Rolling blackouts made more sense last night and this morning. We’re “warmer” tonight than we were last night
Much more energy required to bring a house to 68-72 inside when it’s 15 outside than it is to cool a house to 72-78 when it’s 95-100 outside. That’s a 50+ degree swing vs a 25-30 degree swing. Our homes our designed for 95-100 degrees. Not this crap we have now. Home heaters are working harder. And the geniuses that have their water heaters in the attic instead of the utility room are working much harder.

That camera is a few years old. You can probably find a new one fairly reasonably priced. I like it. It is fairly simple, and I haven't had any issues with it. Of course, the new mirrorless models are what everyone wants now, which helps the price of the other models.

My utility room is inside my house.

In DS, high was supposed to be 40 it never got above 28 and is back down to 25. I'm starting to wonder if they missed the temps for tomorrow and if we end up with ice again.
I think that is a probability.

So, dumb question.
It’s 26 outside right now. Forecast says the temp will go back up to 29-30 overnight. Is this accurate or is the temp only going to continue to fall?
I’m prepping again for a hard freeze just in case but just curious.

That likely just means they missed the forecast low by a few degrees. Prep like it will be 26 or lower all night.

I keep seeing that forecast. But after only getting barely above freezing today when forecast to hit about 40, I'm not sure.

I'm going to continue watching the temp and following my routine of running faucets and flushing toilets every hour or two until we're above freezing here.

I imagine the water getting shut off completely is imminent
Ah hell. I've got slightly reduced water pressure but still functional for now. Just filled up 2 bathtubs. I'm expecting a shitshow tomorrow.

I get the idea in theory. But in practice my heater cycled about half as much last night (2 deg) as my AC does in a typical July. Continuously.
I do get that people with electric heat and heat strips are using a shite ton of power. I remember those bills...never again.

My heat pump has run 1/3 more than peak energy for summer

I guess that's my answer then. It just seems that gas furnaces would make up the difference. My electric usage is less in the coldest months than it is in fall and spring.
