Anyone try to drive from Houston to Lafayette today? Wondering if it will be okay around. Noon tomorrow
Won't that be right in the middle of the next round of winter weather?

They must be doing unreported rolling blackouts...lost power 3 times so far today about 2 hours apart each time

Trying to figure that out. Says most of the wintry mix will be north of I-10 but I guess I’ll play it by ear

Yep. Filling up both bathtubs before it gets completely turned off.

Some Covington Cleco just lost power

Major water main breaks, pump stations offline, nasty stuff in the water.

pumps are all fricked up and multiple mains are busted
if you have water, you have very little pressure
I imagine the water getting shut off completely is imminent

Why is the temperature going down in Metry? I just took all the wrappings off the plants 3 hours ago.

Northeast Louisiana is standing tall as the most livable part of Louisiana at the moment. And everybody laughed when we said our day would come.

Yep, we got all the bathtubs full and a few 5 gallon buckets of snow to flush the toilets.
There is no telling how long it will take to get everything back online. Also, where will the money come from.

Ridge building over Alaska & SE Canada dislodged a TPV complex into S Canada, where it persisted more than a week as the air mass grew colder before it was diverted S the Central US. LINK

Someone please help me understand the power consumption issues that we're having with SPP. We haven't been part of the Rolling blackouts per se, but they are telling us that our hub runs three different sections. And with the high consumption that we're having now, they can only run two at a time. So they're doing their own mini blackouts to keep people warm enough.
My question is, doesn't an air conditioner consume much more power, with a condenser, compressor, and the blower running in a 100 degree weather in LA? Vs most of our area are running gas heaters... so they're just using the blower.
Why are we maxed out?
