No models needed. It’s sleeting it’s arse off after getting about a quarter inch of freezing rain. Transformers are blowing across the AP.

holy shite...we're supposed to leave for steamboat on the 13th

I've been watching GFS hinting at a pretty significant ice/snow event for Arkansas and North Louisiana in the Tuesday-Thursday time frame for a few days now. This pushes it back a few days and pushes it farther south.
It's a long way out but something wintery has been on the GFS runs in that time frame for a few days so it's better than nothing.

Yes, a very long way out BUT for the models to see something that significant, I think it's safe to say that we're in for at least a pretty significant cold snap. Maybe not snow or even teens but possibly low to mid 20s which is still significant.

GFS at 11 days out
Lol, this isn't even worth Chicken's bandwidth to post. The GFS hasn't been able to get shite right 4-7 days out this year, much less 10-14.

What's key here is it's been in the runs (heh) for a few days now and hasn't gone away. Usually 200+ hours out you'll have giants swings from run to run that look completely different. I've been keeping an eye on this for a few days.

We must await peej’s prediction before we draw any conclusions

Is this the storm that brings Pat Shingleton out of retirement?
Yea you're exactly right and it has indeed been a little consistent. I've been very casually watching it for a few days too but this morning's run was so extreme I figured I'd bring it here to give the heads up.
