It’s not a forecast, it’s simply modeled output. A human didn’t generate that text.

The 12z SPC HREF supports widespread 0.1 - 0.3" of ice accretion across South Louisiana. It shows a very sharp gradient between BR & NO with no ice for NO. In most areas, the Winter Storm Warning criteria for freezing rain is 0.25".

But...but...but this is impossible. The tree huggers tell us we're in the middle of global warming and we're all going to burn to death cause the planet is dying.

I posted this earlier in the thread. I encourage you to read it and learn something today.

What’s happening is called a polar vortex split due to a sudden stratospheric warming event. It’s a common occurrence that is said to happen about 6 times a decade except this event is caused by more intense temperatures than usual.

That’s not to say one side is right or wrong. It’s just science.

One of the dumbest things is when people say “OHH I THOUGHT THERE WAS GLOBAL WARMING”! If anything real hardcore global warming might cause a mini ice age. Anyway it’s fricking stupid.

Duke predicted this February cold back in the January snow thread. It was something to do with a Greenland block I think.

Because single digit temps and 8 inches of ice and snow in Louisiana is totally normal and not a sign of extreme weather patterns brought on by climate change.

Or when people act like the earth hasn't been fluctuating in temperature for millions of years.

Most models have been showing more snow than sleet for north LA. NAM is leaning towards mostly sleet.

I finally set my oven clock to the right time.

100% chance of losing power on the Northshore now. You're welcome.

How can accuweather be so out of touch? I know they’re bad, but saying 3-6 inches of snow for BR this close to monday when it’s going to be all ice is just terrible

Accuweather is comically bad. I'd suggest you just delete the app. Wunderground, Weather channel app and radarscope is all you need.

Can y’all please take the political BS to the politics board and not clutter this thread? People needing info right now.

Say, baw, you new here? This happens in every weather thread. I don't see why a winter storm thread should be any different.

So your suggestion to replace one "comically bad" app is to download 3?

Serious question, though, has it ever happened before? By ever I mean in the last 200 years or so, because that's all we can really say with any certainty.
