Maybe in the mid to late 90’s. The early 90’s MTV was their heyday for videos
Everything from all the grunge bands to rap provided plenty of videos and music. OPP, Dr. Dre & Snoop, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Guns & Roses, Metallica, REM, Tom Petty, Mariah Carey, etc….

Lets face it, how could a station like that survive in todays world of music. What in the hell would they have on there that people would listen to? fricking Taylor Swift?
The music itself died which would make it hard to have a station that focused on creative music in todays world. They may have made some bad decisions but the artist failed them too
As much as I like a good bit of the grunge phase, it was the start of the decline.
I remember watching Dire Straits , Money for nothing, for the first time. Now a days, it would not be that creative but in 1985, that shite was awesome.

Music in general was better before MTV. With MTV, bands suddenly were concerned with how they look on camera and MTV played along. Makes you wonder if bands like The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan and CSN would even be popular if they formed during the early eighties. You can make an argument that today's crappy pop music scene is a direct result of MTV.

Before about 2008, each decade had its own flavor, its own style, that was unique to it and gave it its own distinct feel and character. And music was a huge part of this. You could hear a song, or see an outfit, and you could immediately tell what era it was from.
But all that seemed to stop around 2008-2010 timeframe. Since then nothing has changed. No new styles, no changes in music, in fact little to no good music, other than some country artists. It’s like our culture has simply stopped for the past roughly 15 years.
