You're so far off the mark it would be stunning if i didn't already know you were an idiot.

No it isn't. Not at all.

Didn't pay them much mind until I worked with a dude that was a JW. One day he mentioned that his son's birthday was coming up and he had a big decision to make. He said that if his son chose not to be in the church, he was going to kick him out the house, disown him, and never speak to him again.

I asked him, that if he was walking down the street and came upon his son, he'd just ignore him? And he said that was exactly what he'd do. That was right when I first had internet access, and I did a lot of research on it and ended up going off on the dude. Pissed him right off when I pointed out the facts that made it a scam and a cult and all the bullshite that's gone on within it and how the small cabal in New York that controls the religion conveniently changes their rules as need be, like where they increased the number of allowable witness and things like that.

It's a total mind control cult that deserves all the ridicule it can get.

Link? I thought she did this two years ago on Scientology. A lot of good that did. That deep state group looks stronger than ever.

Also I know of a guy that tried to get picked up by a Scientologist in thibodaux to join. I didn’t think they were this far down.

Eta:
Having watched the show I wonder if any Scientologist are on this board. I’m sure they won’t out themselves, but it’s something to think about.

Just cause she’s a gullible, weak minded, follower who got duped by Scientology doesn’t mean every religion is bad.

She was raised in it from childhood, and unlike many, had the strength of mind and character to throw it off as an adult.

Ignorant people make the dumbest assumptions.

I don't know about the other two, but this is absolutely false to lump mormons into that thinking. They don't teach that at all for someone getting out of line. There is no shunning either.

What an idiot

I'm watching now and apparently you can be disfellowshipped (shunned) and kicked out for something like having pre-marital sex. Well, WTF? Prince was a big time Jehovah's Witness and he used to bang all kinds of chicks in the 80's. How come he wasn't kicked out? I guess he was the Tom Cruise of JWs.

Late to the thread... did she quit going after the Church of Scientology? Actually really enjoyed the episodes on that.

Anything that makes you go door knocking is bad news. I think you have to tithe much more that most religions too.

I heard that JW keeps records of your finances so they know if you are giving the proper percentage.

Are you kidding? It happens all the time - especially in Utah. You say something publicly that is negative about church leadership and there's a great chance you are getting excommunicated.

I thank all missionaries of any faith for spreading the Word, and tell them I already follow the Word in my own way, and they move on.

No doubt. Like you said, it takes balls to be those people and they generally don't hurt anyone so I don't have any beef with them.

Years pass living in a neighbor hood, my neighbors across the street were JW's. The husband worked at the same place I did and they knew that I worked shift hours.

Needless to say, they had their group of JW's come to my house many times in the day always when I was coming off a dog shift. After about the 5th time, I answer the front door in my birthday suit. Told them never ever step back on my place again. Hey, it worked.

The best thing that ever came out of the JW world is that Dylan song that Jimi Hendrix did.

“All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl.”

there are some great docs about fundamentalist Mormon groups kicking out members (almost always young males). Sons of Perdition is probably the best. these guys have no concept of the real world and are forced to start living in it. they're called the Lost Boys

it's often more the fundies in compounds where polygamy is popular, b/c the old, powerful men steal all the women. young men with no hopes of ever having a relationship are a major issue b/c they become violent (because their life has no meaning, in terms of evolution)

i had a really good friend growing up who was Mormon and there were excommunication threats, and they weren't in a fundie cult (obviously b/c they were in southj LA)

They drove the Nazis nuts when it came to trying to make them do this or that in the camps. If it was against their religious beliefs they would refuse to comply and get the crap beat out of them. Himmler finally let them exist till it came time for a whole group to be gassed. They were famous in the camps for going out of their way to help others. Read their story in Ravensbruck, a book about the women's death camp. Some amazing stories of bravery and hardship. All because of their religious beliefs. Same stories in books about Auschwitz, Belsen.
