My best friend is from a JW family, they do anything they can to help others out, and his dad has helped me on a few renovation projects. They're also very happy people, good people. I honestly don't care about someones faith, so long as they treat others with respect and kindness.

I know people are going to say just a lil weird, but if you listen to some of the stories on the ex-Mormon sub Reddit. They can cross the line.

This show’s premise was just as weird as any cult-

quote:I’ve read this is the principle behind the expression, “You’re dead to me now.”
They use "disfellowshipping" like Scientologists and Mormons..... get out of line and you are shunned. Doesn't matter if it's your sibling or your parent or your child. You are required to cut off contact.
And that ties in with with the familiar line, “He will come again to judge the quick (living) and the dead.”
Which has nothing to do with judging non-living people and everything to do with judgement coming to those deemed to have turned their back on the religion they were disfellowshipped from.

Dumb question but is there a difference between JW and Mormons?

I used to be back in the day.

Yes, there are large differences but also similarities in that you’re either with them or going to hell.
In both you go out and knock on doors to try to save us ignorant fools.
Because of Prince and Michael Jackson being JW, some think each is for a different race.

Ok that’s where the confusion came. The white shirts on bikes are Mormons correct?

Guy I went to HS with was JW. They're forced to spread their religion in some type of way.. door to door is usually the easiest. They have to spend so many hours a week doing it. He said he could remember as a kid spending his weekends and hoping the people wouldn't answer the door when he knocked.

Nope, that reason is money.
She would frick a snake on live TV if the price was right, lets not pretend otherwise.

I had a lot of faith that this thread (since it is on the OT) would turn into a thread full of hot Leah pics. I see one. This makes me sad.

A close friend of mine is a recovering Witness. They absolutely use this tactic, and it's one of the major reasons he left the church. He and his wife split up, and because divorce is forbidden, the Kingdom Hall sent him a certified letter so he could be publicly rebuked in the next service. He didn't show, and hasn't since, but his dad has been shunned by the Hall because he didn't take the shaming.
They have many more cultlike behaviors (not to mention their very specific and esoteric interpretation of some Scripture), but aggressive disfellowship is certainly one hallmark.
They also are aggressively against transplantation and blood transfusions, as it would make the resurrection on paradise Earth impossible. Basic surgeries can become life threatening or deadly as a result.

She's obviously easily manipulated because she's looking for something so I can see her being one of those atheists that treats it as it's own religion
Watch the show, then say that.

The Pledge of Allegiance is the most pointless thing we make children do.

And I dunno, JWs are in a cult.
They deserve to be shamed. Who cares.

Possibly. I dont deny that. But she is one of the very few people that I would like to watch her bleed.
