remember going to BSL three years after Katrina and it was still an absolute disaster. The bridge was still out and the casino boat was till pushed up against the shore.
I thought the northshore and New Orleans area was bad after Katrina. Then I drove to to Mississippi...
It has always bothered me that, for the most part, the rest of the country has no idea what happened to the Mississippi gulf coast.

I’m watching TWC and bouncing between here and twitter. Cameron is already under 3ft of water.

Yeah...they stayed for Rita mom said "never again" and I tried explaining this was going to be nothing like Rita. If you've spent anytime down there since Rita, the marsh does NOTHING to suppress tide rise, etc. close to town. Or at least that's what it seems anecdotally.
Gonna be a tense week. 27 and 82 had to have the sand bulldozed off before anyone could get in or out after Rita.
Final update from mom. Either enough people called urging or God himself appeared but step dad is out of Hackberry and as safe as a person can be north of Iowa. That being said, there are still people down there and I don't get it.
Thanks to those that showed concern, I'll be watching all night.

I've noticed that the backside eyewall is sort of weakening on radar.
Radar beam gotta punch through the front end, so it always looks weak vs the front side. I see nothing to suggest an EWRC at this time and it's getting late for one anyway.

Power just went out in Cameron.
And that's it. For WEEKS.

Driving to BR right now and I'm in Rayville. This is the darkest I've seen it here. Moon is getting a bit lost behind the way outer clouds.

That northern eyewall is ridiculous looking. It is pretty thick.

I say power restored in 1 week and 6 days? Over or under

Way too quiet on the Northshore. I kinda don't like this. I feel like she's going to spin around and punch us in the mouth with an outer band.
Some of the short range models are suggesting New Orleans will get a trailing band around sunrise-8AM.

How long are they predicting it will last?

I'm seeing a couple of 180 mph radar returns too and estimating the beam height it would translate to 160ish at the surface too.
The eyewall reminds me of Michael's but probably a little thicker.

Anyone check out the remote camera from Cameron lately? I’m actually surprised there isn’t more water than that on the road.
I looked a bit ago. Been checking in off and on. Water has come up steadily, but not a overwhelming yet.
