What are the CDC guidelines for “unsurvivable” storm surge as NHC so eloquently put it?

Microwave scan still shows NE portion extremely healthy.

Looks like your hopes might not be coming to fruition Duke.

For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. What are hurricanes seeking to counterbalance in nature?

What was that model that kept saying a cat 5, but it's not used for hurricane projections?

Maybe they should start using it...

Way too quiet on the Northshore.

Just put a pineapple in your yard, baw. I hear that stirs things up over there.

I've noticed that the backside eyewall is sort of weakening on radar. The front side is still terrible looking. Would like rds or Duke to give their thoughts? Could an EWRC be happening?

Nah. The radar just can't punch through the northern eyewall very well.

ETA - There is absolutely zero sign of an EWRC, unfortunately.

say power restored in 1 week and 6 days? Over or under

Bruh

Opelousas didn't have power for 2 weeks from Gustav, which was cat 2 at landfall.

Power won't be back in Cameron for a long time.

KPLC reporting live from WAFB studios

Only 2 reporters from KPLC stayed behind

KPLC is on nation wide on Directv Channel 361-2. Directv usually skips around to different local channels during a hurricane when they have Ch 361-2 active.

We're about to find out but I doubt it. Recon should be doing another NE to SW pass soon. They're looking for winds to confirm a Cat 5 or at least go 155 for the 10 pm update I'm sure.

The eyewall reminds me of Michael's but probably a little thicker.

Michael was a very underrated storm as far as the rest of the country goes.

I think this one is even moreso.

That northern eyewall is ridiculous looking. It is pretty thick.
