Zero track change on the 12z GFS. Landfall at Sabine Pass. Intensity a tick in the right direction though.

If I lived West of Houston, I wouldn't too worried at this point.

You think the projections are going to keep moving to the west?
Looking at the NHC projected coordinates from the 4am advisory, at 4pm today Laura is forecasted to be at 23.8N but the 10 am Advisory already had Laura at 23.7N. She’ll be well north of the projected at 4pm today

I have a kid at RICE.. should I tell him to stay in Houston with family or head to Ft. Worth with other family? I am thinking ride it out in Houston and then leave after if the infrastructure is screwed up. RICE is in The Medical Center so power would probably be on quickly compared to othwr areas.

If the storm is north of the forecast which direction does that indicate landfall will shift?

Damn. Sounds like we need a Greater Heights / Rice Military OT meet up.
Once this damn storm passes of course...and if Dora the Explorer ever opens the County back up.
Has covid been canceled?

Intense storms always want to go poleward as quickly as possible. The lack of perfect LLC and MLC stacking is probably responsible for its current nuanced northern movement. Who knows how those changes impact downstream landfall. Models coming in now to include the 12z GFS are inclusive of G4 and NOAA dropsondes.

Can’t anyone explain the different satellite imagery products and why you would use one vs. the other.
Longwave IR vs. Dvorak?
Shortwave IR?
Water Vapor?

The only issues I see in Houston are power outages. It wont get the wind nor the rain unless something drastically changes.

The poster on St. Anne street near contraband bayou will for sure flood out his backyard neighbors during this storm.

At the old “Hamburger Taco” place right next to the HEB. The real name was Copper Penny but I don’t think anyone called it that. Pretty sure it was just a drug front anyway.
