EXCLUSIVE U.S. to announce $750 million more in weapons for Ukraine, officials say

May include howitzers.....

WASHINGTON, April 12 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden's administration is expected to announce as soon as Wednesday another $750 million in military assistance for Ukraine for its fight against Russian forces, two U.S. officials familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The equipment would be funded using Presidential Drawdown Authority, or PDA, in which the president can authorize the transfer of articles and services from U.S. stocks without congressional approval in response to an emergency.

One of the officials said final determinations were still being made about the mix of equipment.

A senior congressional aide said the equipment to be announced would likely include heavy ground artillery systems to Ukraine, including howitzers.

Good news for Ukrainians trying to hold on to their country. I’m interested in the off book pouring into the country. How Ukraine was supplied unchallenged will be the story when this is all done. God bless the Czechs Poles Slovaks Brits French and of course America. God bless them all.

Same thing, different war. At least this time it’s going to a country that’s taking out former/current communists that should have been dealt with decades ago.

Are you really going with the “this is a Russian Civil War because Ukraine isn’t a country” talking point? Or are you talking about the Donbas war leading up to what’s happening now

It's not a civil war when another country invades a sovereign nation.

Trent Telenko is one of the best twitter follows, especially with regard to logistics and manpower. All his tweets today are worth reading. There are a lot of them, but they're very informative. He predicted the Russian underperformance and he sees a total collapse by June. LINK

UPDATE: Defense official says tonight that helicopters will NOT be in package, despite earlier discussions they would be. As our initial story says, there was uncertainty over what would make final cut.

Other systems, including artillery and Humvees, appear to be a go.

Cannons or Rockets? Wonder if we would give them some HIMARS?

Second Phase.
U.K. intelligence suggests that Russian forces are preparing for what is expected to be a large and more focused push on expanding control in the east of Ukraine.

The Butcher, will likely push the center of Ukraine and cut the country in half.

More complex US,UK, French and German artillery systems would require more training and specifically training on maintaining the equipment. This also might be a case where Soviet made artillery is supplied since the Ukrainians are more familiar with it.

Curious what is still available and in good condition tube wise and ammunition wise in the former Warsaw Pact countries.

We should take the ERCA out of developmental testing and let them try it out in Ukraine.

Kinda just kidding

I've noticed a turn to the negative for Ukraine in recent 24/7 cable coverage. For example Jack Keene on Fox News was saying how impressive it was that Ukraine pushed Russia back at Kyiv. And now he has a forboding mood with the concentration of Russia forces reconstituting and moving to the east. I just hope the Ukrainians can do something about it rather than to sit and wait until Russia sends in another 40 mile convoy in. And Jack Keene says by June the Russians will be able to travel across the fields that are impassable now due to weather.

Russia pulling back from Kyiv and moving their forces east cause great issues for Ukraine. Do you abandoned Capitiol area and leave yourself exposed or take it on the chin on eastern front?

Keene has also been saying the elite 1st Guards Tank Army is arriving and will make a difference. In fact they've been there since the beginning and were some of the units getting mauled around Kyiv. A military analyst should know that.

I think a very viable final score in this think is Russia and Ukraine lose, and the west wins.

Russia will lose face and an arseload of military capability and be set back a decade in future Imperialist efforts, Ukraine will lose lives and a few Provinces (Oblasts?).

For the West, the Javalins and Stingers that we’ve been stockpiling and are now handing out are being used to destroy the exact pieces of equipment they were intended to destroy - without our soldiers in harms way.
