what’s the optimal demographic
I guess we’ll have to use 1776 as a reference year, and say that is the “correct” National demographic.
Step 1: Start massive Native American repopulation program
Step 2: Anyone with a German, Polish, or Eastern European last name needs to pack their shiite and head back to Europe. All of us Ellis Island era descendants are going home!
Step 3 will take out any other post-1776 immigrant demographic, and there won’t be a single nail salon, Chinese food place, or cab driver left in the country.

It’s kind of funny to me how all of the “anti-globalists” are suddenly realizing why the global economy is important.

Neocons are too concerned about the world and not concerned enough about America's cultural, spiritual and demographic degradation and the steady erosion of the middle class.
Please feel free to elaborate, particularly on the meaning of “demographic degradation.”

Not a history buff. Got this from a History web site.
In mid-December 1940, Roosevelt introduced a new policy initiative whereby the United States would lend, rather than sell, military supplies to Great Britain for use in the fight against Germany. Payment for the supplies would be deferred, and could come in any form Roosevelt deemed satisfactory.

Doubt we ever get anything of consequence from the Ukraine as payment...
which means the taxpayers will cover it

Not to further derail this thread, but you know in real life, most people I meet are quite decent.
The extremists and radicalization of people on social media is pulling this country apart.
In my experience, most people are not like MTG or AOC. Those are extreme lunatic outliers but social media has made politics a war and you're either all in on your side or out.
I feel fairly disenfranchised with both parties. I loathe the Trumpist doctrine and equally reject the fringe progressives.
I feel the regular middle class suburban voter is in a no man's land of crap with no one good to vote for.
I find it terrifying though that as a country, we are not 100 percent united behind Ukraine. Anyone supporting Russia in any way doesn't get why we even exist as a country.

It really seems like geopolitical calculus is changing real time as this war drags on. I don’t know if many Western leaders would have trusted Ukraine enough to invest this heavily in January.
As far as proxy wars go, this may be about the most effective one as far as NATO is concerned.
1. A non-negligible percent of Russian war capability is being eliminated, and fairly quickly. (Vs Soviet-Afghan war which took years).
2. Our proxy partner is closer to Western ideology at the start (Vs. Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Taiwan)
3. Russia appearing weaker than expected is pushing China on its heels a little bit - and they are not known for adjusting quickly so the speed at which this is taking place has them off guard.
4. NATO troops aren’t directly involved
5. NATO is looking like it will pull Finland, Sweden into the fold

A lot of people on either side would approve of an authoritarian state as long as it encompasses their values.

Amazing news.
And what do I get out of all of this as a US citizen?
More freeloaders that my tax dollars and children will be obligated to bailout in a decade?

Horseshoe politics.
I simply want the government out of my bedroom and out of my wallet, and shrink about...oh....75%. Which would help with that "out of my wallet" thing.

Comfort knowing that most of the civilized world will come together to oppose dictators and lunatics that threaten the destruction of the Earth?

Most posters on here view themselves as Civil War experts because they have read so much "history" about it. But the history they read is of the Lost Cause narrative.
Where is your proof first that most posters here consider themselves Civil War experts and also only read about the Civil War from Lost Cause narratives.
Using term “only” because of the way you wrote phrase seems to imply that is only source of civil info for “most posters on here” as I don’t think reading some history that might be considered lost cause while also reading others is problem and is what most history teachers I had or knew did in particular to teach mindset during reconstruction. They could also have a little more nuanced view of some of the tenets dealing with secession, honor in defeat, and reconstruction (radical versus what Lincoln may have done and then later how it was dropped for power play which had a negative net affect on blacks and white) especially in regards to the non-slave owning former confederate soldiers & middle to lower class citizens (as compared to English professors who always made it black & white if topic came up in or out of class or how leftists say stop the steal was a reemergence of the Lost Cause idea and bring it up some now).

Continued dominance of the United States, both economically and militarily.

You need to learn to decouple foreign policy from domestic policy.

I think Victoria Nuland and Co. want to bleed out Russia down to the last Ukrainian.

Good observation. Stalin said that he couldn't have won without US aid early in the war.
