Quite amazing how Russia is mirroring WWII Germany so closely in all this, from ideology and geopolitical strategy right down to battlefield tactical blunders.

It's the perfect time for them to join - when Russia is being as aggressive af and tied down elsewhere (and not looking all that competent at that).

When Czechosolovakia broke up, the Czech Republic was eager to embrace Western ideals. Slovakia was more ambivalent. They have really stepped up in this crisis.

It doesn’t take much for you does it? Not sure who Circus is exactly or what my website would be (sure i have seen posts from or about at some point but don’t remember what they were about without rereading them & also don’t know if Circus is complete username or just short version used by others). Being that I have less than 3000 posts it should be easy to find a trend of where I post, but that would be too hard for you (that’s what she said).
My post was just what it was. After reading some of posts here I actually went and read the political board and with one topic even came back with a link for others to read as at least by the time I got to read through it the discussion didn’t resemble how it was described here. A couple of posters here said it started one way but it did change after others started bring up stuff which is how a discussion should work especially when linking to a Twitter source and wanting to discuss or see if anyone had heard anything else from different sources.
If that makes me Circus in your eyes that’s your problem and your own bias you bring here.

Given in the context of nuking them over it, which appears to be in the reporting this isn’t much a of statement. I don’t think even OML would think Russia would nuke Finland simply for joining NATO.
That said, there doesn’t appear much Russia can do about it anyway. I’m sure they’ll move some missiles and tanks, but how much can they move with Ukraine hot? Not only that, that move means much less than it did 60 days ago.

Another thing for US taxpayers:
The taxpayer money is largely just going to US defense contractors in the form of weapons purchases. The dudes working overtime in the shop making javalins are Americans so it’s not completely “lost”, a good chunk of that is coming right back in the form of income and sales taxes.
There’s also nothing stopping you from investing in Lockheed Martin and making some money for yourself.
The entirety of Europe wanting to now increase arms in the wake of Russian aggression will alsolead to more foreign money pouring into the US in the form of weapons purchases.
In the best form of this, significant demand for skilled labor will occur to keep up with the demand of, for instance, doubling F-35 production for export to allies.

I mean sure, but claiming serious consequences for Finland joining NATO in December does not amount to strengthening your defensive posture...and if anything actually hinders their operational capabilities elsewhere including Ukraine
