Sure. And I'm not disagreeing there is bias but Putin made it easy for him to the the bad guy. Plus on a personal level I dont like Russians so everything fits my bias so I'm good to go.
Since Russia and the Russian Empire has been invading their neighbors for decades, it is easy to believe that they are bad guys.
Since Russia and their puppets three up a border wall and killed civilians trying to leave their side of the border; it’s easy to believe they would kill civilians with no second thoughts.

Not only easy but its makes all the nasty shite they were alleged to have done a near cinch certainty they did it.
Its part of their doctrine, blow everything up and torture the civilians to the point nobody (at least in the near term) thinks about fricking with Russia.

I honestly do not blame the UKA soldiers for killing Russian prisoners. As far as I am concerned the Russians deserve it given their overall treatment of Ukraine citizens
Dealing with POWs is one of the most logistically disruptive things a front-line unit can deal with. It was a huge PITA in Desert Storm. It is even harder when you are spread thin like the Ukrainians certainly are. That being said it does not absolve individuals and militaries from not doing the right thing.
War crimes are a very sticky issue especially given the oxymoron it most certainly is. Does this mean I wouldn't have committed a war crime to save myself or one of my fellow soldiers, hell no, but it would have had its potential ramifications. I am just glad I was never put into that situation.
This is a knife edge topic for me as it can go either way but I am going to have to have far more facts before blaming or not blaming individuals for their actions in this war. I will give Ukrainian forces a little more leeway since they are the invaded and they are also the David in this scenario. Sometimes I let the little guy that got sucker-punched off for punching the aggressor in the nuts but not if he gets the big guy down and starts repeatedly kicking him in the nuts.

I can tell you what the current guidance is, keep sending them back until they land somewhere and somebody knows what to do with them. Keep kicking that can to the rear and CM.

In that video, one of the Georgians stabs the POWs they’ve just killed in the eyes repeatedly.
There was a separate incident in Kharkov where two members of the Azov Battalion murdered a POW on camera.
The Russian soldier is on his knees, hands bound, his head hooded. In the video they pull of the hood, and brandish a long knife in front of his eyes. Giving him a moment to recognize what is happening.
The Ukrainian soldier then kills the Russian, repeatedly stabbing him through his eyes, pushing the blade into his brain.

Then why would the NYT bother reporting that Ukrainians were killing Russian POWs? why aren't they just sweeping it under the rug?
Since I have to be very specific I will clarify. Which story do you think gets more air time? Ukrainian or Russian war crimes?

Also I don't really have a problem with them "picking a side." They probably don't want to the side that regularly imprisons and disappears dissenting journalists to win, and i don't blame them
I mean IDGAF either. I’ve posted many times in this very thread that I’m rooting for Ukraine, but anyone that can’t at least admit that western media has a large bias towards Ukraine is being willfully ignorant.

I don’t see anything about what a general said, I see the ambush video

That is the unfortunate "legal" solution when you don't have the logistics to properly detain POWs.
I think the reality is modern technology has produced much more awareness of "war crimes" which have been rampant throughout history by both the "good guys" and the "bad guys". LT Calley was certainly not the only "criminal" on the US side in Vietnam and almost certainly wasn't the worst either.

I don't know man. That was some seriously fricked up shite he pulled.
ETA: Fun fact. When I was going through OCS, Calley was still living there in Columbus. Needless to say he was a pretty large part of our module on ethics, following orders, etc.

Way to completely ignore the point I’m trying to make so you can smear me as some apologist to Russia you disingenuous hack.

I ignored the point? You're the one who claimed Putin is the best on the world stage and then ignored evidence showing he isn't.

I think he ended up running a jewelry store.

Our position on the global stage is materially weaker because of the means in which we are “fighting” the Russians. I’m glad you are content with this. Continue on with the circle jerk.

Says the guy that stated Putin is probably the best player out of the world power leaders. Ukraine has been a disaster for Putin and Russia
