I feel ya man. I find myself wondering how the Ukrainian troops I worked with during Rapid Trident are doing, or if they're even alive.

Former eastern block guys are nervous as hell-even folks in NATO now. The Russians I still talk with sure as frick know what’s happening and are shitting themselves. The only hopeful stuff they are saying involves miscalculation and overplaying their hand. But it’s the Ukrainians Czech Latvian Lithuanians and Hungarians that I worry most about. Never good to watch a military man cry. frick.

Just more evidence of poor planning, you need to have the truck space available to haul off the dead civilians and 10 and 11 year old war brides.

Well the good news is we have over a Division of US Military sitting in the one country that wants to smash Russia back to the stone age.

We're not just there to stop Russia from advancing on NATO, we're there to hold Poland back.

Closing retail outlets only hurts Russian civilians

I honestly think McDonald's closing helps them but i concur with your idea.

They have been 100% mobilized since Feb 24 with the reserves on a 48 hour recall.

Up to now I didn’t understand the Russian use of the words “Nazi” and “denazification.” That article explains it completely. Nazi refers to the very idea of Ukraine as an independent state. Denazification means to kill everyone who views Ukraine as anything other than a completely dominated and integrated part of Russia. All Ukrainian leadership and military must be “liquified,” according to the article.

Basically, Russia has gon insane.

Part of me wants the Poles turned loose for historical reasons and part realizes that’s pretty damn likely to start WWIII in a relatively short period of time, even if done outside of NATO framework. I’d think the first thing they’d want to do is secure Kalingrad and then likely move southeast through Belarus to “liberate” them and stop the military support and staging for Russia.

Nope, but he's likely crazier today than he was yesterday.

I’m sure you’ve stopped to consider this before but how different are Poland and Hungary? Both hated the soviets you can feel it radiating off them but Poland is ready and willing to start fighting and Hungary just re-elected Putins pal? I know I know voting irregularities blah blah blah but just weird. Magyars have a bit of that authoritarian craving in spite of their protestations to the contrary…

frick PUTIN!! i am never one to put boots on the ground but if he wants to go scorched earth and full nazi concentration camps or stalin gulags and call on his inner stallin.....frick him. mother russia will fail to exist.

anyone that reads that article...and still supports putin is a fool. it is sickening and hard to image in this day and age.

4-8 days restart

They cannot be restarted anytime soon. It is technically possible to restart them in a short amount of time, but it is politically impossible. The governing coalition cannot afford to lose of the Green Party in the Bundestag. Since the Green Party in Germany has been against nuclear power since their founding; it is highly unlikely the plants will be restarted. The Green Party in Germany is on record as saying they would prefer importing coal from foreign sources like the USA, Poland, South Africa etc instead of restarting their nuclear plants. (so much for caring about reducing carbon emissions )

Belgium however just delayed their nuclear phaseout by over a decade.

correct. russia uses the term nazi to anyone that beleives that ukraine should be an independent country. look at how they say "Russian Cities" refering to the cities the russian army has shelled in ukraine.

they have gone completely crazy. they want to go full on genocide. frick them, cant be allowed to happen. still dont think we need boots on the ground but if they use a nuke, all bets are off. if they repeat the horrors discovered in the last few days...frick them. let poland and others march to moscow.

Poland had 5 decades of being in the Soviet sphere of influence, they aren't about to sign up for that again.
