bait Russia into exposing themselves to be decades behind our and many other western militaries? To destabilize Russia?

Honestly I don’t put that much faith in our deep state to be that effective at anything.

I might buy into this a bit more after I have a drink. Give me a minute.

POST MOSCOW MULE EDIT: damn, you make a compelling argument

Hell, if I were a Ukrainian soldier everytime one of my tanks or trucks got blown up I’d go spray paint a Z on it and then upload a Twitter video. There’s probably a 100% this is happening

And I'm perfectly fine with this type of propaganda coming from the nation that was invaded. What I find funny is a certain segment of this site, from a specific forum, that screams bloody murder at any and all Ukrainian propaganda, while blindly accepting all the propaganda coming from Russia because it goes contrary to "MUH MAINSTREAM MEDIA" right now.

See our newest Poet Laureate from the last few pages as an example.

ETA: I think Biden is a potato, and this current administration is the most inept since Carter. I fricking absolutely hate progressive liberals and think they are a cancer on this country. But having said that, I can take a step back and realize what's happening in Ukraine right now has dick-all to do with our current political climate in this country, outside of maybe Putin feeling emboldened by the Potato in Chief. But he would have invaded at some point regardless, because Putin doesn't give two shits about the dysfunction in our government. He only cares about power and expanding Russian influence.

Objectively, again I know, deep state has likely achieved its goals. Surely they have significant ties to defense companies. Many others here have most likely correctly postulated American defense companies are the real winners here. Hard to argue against it. In addition to that, deep state is effectively removing the Russian chess piece from the board of global conflict as China is rising and expanding influence. Just in case it’s not total removal, deep state is stacking Eastern Europe/NATO with increased NATO troops and upgraded American military equipment.

That kind of makes this tweet by Rob even more odd. When he's shown destroyed Russian equipment he has tried to either link it to a specific conflict that was verified or explain why it was Russian.

I have seen him retweet stuff as a place holder and then come back to it later with verification. That's one thing he has tried to do is cut through some of the out of context pics and video that have gained traction.

I haven't looked, was the tweet you quoted a tweet or a retweet from him?

It is the second month of war in Eastern Europe. In a stunning admission of failure, the Russians are trying to rewrite their operational narrative. They are claiming the “first stage” of their invasion is complete and they will now focus their operations on securing the Donbas. There the pro-Russian separatist republics of Lughansk and Donetsk have been fought to a standstill. This proclamation was made by a dour trio of senior Russian commanders, none of which are the missing Defense Minister Shoigu or Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. Neither of them have been seen for almost two weeks. There is no overall theater commander for Russian forces fighting in Ukraine. Over six generals have been killed as they struggle to just find out what is going on at the front. The Russian high command is in shambles, and there is the whiff of probable disaster on the battlefield.

After being thrown back by the Ukrainian counteroffensives around Kyiv, the Russians are definitively digging in to hold their gains. There are reports that a Ukrainian counteroffensive in the south has reached the outskirts of Kherson, a city captured early in the war. A spectacular missile strike humiliated the Russian Navy when it sunk one major Russian amphibious ship and damaged two others. Mariupol remains a city under siege and bombardment. What dead have not been thrown into hastily dug mass graves are left on the streets. President Macron announced a joint evacuation operation for civilians in the city with the Greeks and Turks, but the details are lacking. The Russians continue throwing missiles into Ukraine, but its reported that sixty percent of those missiles fail to explode or even reach their target.

There are over 3.5m refugees and 6.5 internally displaced persons in Ukraine. That is almost 8% of the population. Trains continue flowing west packed with refugees while trains flow east carrying tanks, vehicles and the 45,000 soldiers of the NATO Reaction Force. During a NATO summit in Brussels attended by POTUS and other EU heads of state it was decided to construct four more battlegroups in Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. American troops were seen taking up positions on the Polish-Belarus border where they can cover the vital Suwalki Gap, the likely corridor of an enemy invasion from Belarus towards the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Though “Gru” Lukashenko continues to threaten joining the war, he runs the risk of a revolution where his hold on power is more precarious. Putin would have another impossible mess on his hands if Lukashenko were overthrown.

In a bizarre speech lifted from the ramblings of Donald Trump, Putin today accused the Western progressives of trying to “cancel” Russian culture, drawing comparisons to J.K. Rowling. He expressed bitterness that Hollywood hadn’t made more movies appreciating the Russian contributions to victory in the Second World War. Given that it was a public address, it could all be a way of explaining away sanctions to news-starved Russians. Meanwhile there are reports that Russian soldiers are being issued doses of chemical agent antitodes in anticipation of the use of WMD’s. Given the Russian change in the strategic scope of its operations, it seems unlikely to me that Putin would so dare escalate the war by initiating chemical weapon use. POTUS warned in Brussels that any such use would be met “in kind,” though he didn’t specify what any of that meant. In war, you never signal what you aren’t willing to do. And so the chips continue to pile on in a vitally high stakes game of poker.

I've been bitching about this since day one in this thread. Some people really, really don't like it when you point that out.

It doesn’t say retweet so I don’t believe so but I’m not a Twitter guru. Never really spent much time on it before the war started

Anyone who has even a remote understanding of the Ukrainian people would know they were going to fight like hell against a Russian invasion. The only people I've worked with that hate Russia more than Ukrainians are the Polish. And even then it's not by much.
