And why should they not feel vulnerable when Russia could cut their power?

The Center for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine confirmed that on the night of February 17, the Ilsky oil refinery was attacked and the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in Russia’s Krasnodar region was put out of operation.
Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“The Ilsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, one of the key refineries in southern Russia, was attacked. Its capacity is about 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year,” he wrote.
In addition, Kovalenko stated that the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region, which is the largest in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, was also put out of operation. This station provides the main oil exports from Kazakhstan.

Chernobyl NPP is on fire again
Insulation of the sarcophagus, which was attacked by a Russian drone a few days ago, continues to smolder. Today, three new fire sources were discovered, and climbers are working to extinguish them. Radiation levels remain normal.
The sarcophagus over Chernobyl prevents radiation from spreading from the destroyed reactor. The protective structure was built immediately after the disaster, which became the most severe nuclear accident in human history. In 2016, the structure was modernized, but the occupiers decided to test its durability.

I got criticized when I said probably a year ago that it might be necessary for the US to force Ukraine's hand a bit because they might not accept even a generous peace agreement. Now cargo pants wants to take his ball and go home.

Well the US is viewed as an unreliable supporter now. The US doesn’t appear to be advocating for or supporting Ukraine anymore.
And from what we’ve been hearing of Trump rhetoric, the US proposals result in the US claiming rights to some of the Mineral resources from Ukraine. So the US and Russia essentially divide the spoils.
Ukraine is looking for EU to lead the resistance now.
