Russia doesn't want NATO western military parked on it's border. That is reasonable. Whether or not "rebuilding old Soviet Union" is motivation, is secondary. Do you ever wonder why some dislike America? Because we do shite like this. Make everything our business. Go pick up a book on WWII its lead up, the war and aftermath along with The Cold War.
This type of thing HAS to be our business or it will be eventually in a much worse way. This is quite different than some religious civil war in the Middle East.
Edit: Look I'm moderate politically and the extreme bothers the hell out of me but what is the most disturbing thing of my life time at age 35 is seeing people openly cheer Putin and feel this is ok because they don't like the current US President.
This is the Soviet Union...no difference. We have gone so off the rails as a country. We need to wake up and remember who we are put our domestic differences aside and look at the big picture, doesn't matter if you voted for or against Biden, his success or failure in this matter is all of our success or failure as it is all across the free world and their.
The partisan games tied to this issue have to stop, disagree with a position all you want and I want to hear different perspectives but the blind play into Soviet propaganda is amazing and the love fest for Putin and this situation from some of the extreme right and condemnation of the President from the extreme left is truly mind blowing.
I had to get that off my chest, now I have to say threads like this are where the OT Shines, best news coverage and videos links ever.

Norway, Estonia, and Latvia are already on Russia's border, though. It's a mere 3 hour drive to St. Petersburg from Estonia.
Putin has long wanted Kyiv. That's where the Russian people started and he has previously said it's the biggest geographic loss from the USSR collapse. At the end of the day, he's still a KGB agent that hates the west and believes all Russians and Russian-descendants should live under the same flag.

Russia has no say in whether a sovereign country joins NATO or not. They have zero justification for this.
