Thank you sir, well said.
There are very good reasons that we should remember history. Pearl Harbor, Neville Chamberlain, gas lines, Vietnam, and other major events should be studied so that mistakes can be avoided and a repeat of those events with their consequences don’t happen again.

Santana also said that history is a pack of lies written about things that didn't happen by people who weren't there

Looks like that column was mostly the work of drones since there are few craters along the road.

So, apparently the internet is awash with unsubstantiated rumors that Lavrov is dead?
If anyone tracks down anything that proves this right or wrong, please post.

Seeing this as well. Wonder if he fell out a window on the 10th floor.

Venezuela extradited Colombian citizens who fought as members of the Ukrainian military to Russia, demonstrating growing Russian-Venezuelan cooperation and Venezuelan support for Russia's war.
Where was it that Trump told Musk they'd both have to move to if Harris won the election? That keeps pinging with me as very odd, of all places.

Venezuela handed over Colombians who fought for Ukraine to Russia. This is the first time this has happened - Politico The fighters, who served in the Foreign Legion in Ukraine, were arrested during a transfer in Caracas, Venezuela, as they were returning home. They face up to 15 years in prison in Russia.
Just a reminder that Russia is allied with the likes of Venezuela and Iran. This is what Lima supports.

Americans are taking control of Armenian law enforcement
That's even more blatant of a realignment than I expected. Armenia is too small and vulnerable not to have a powerful ally protecting it (from Azerbaijan, who is aligned with Turkey)... Russia has abandoned that role recently, letting Azerbaijan just retake contested territory and withdrawing troops that were "peacekeepers" in that area. Iran is a natural enemy of Azerbaijan (Azerbaijanis are the biggest minority group in Iran that the Khomeini regime feels threatened by) but Armenia seems not to want to tie themselves to that pariah state boat anchor completely. I thought it would be the EU it really snuggled up to, but I guess there's no way it would gain NATO membership until Georgia and Azerbaijan do...

Switzerland may abandon 500 years of neutrality due to Russian threat - Politico
Wow, so Putin has possibly managed to get Sweden AND Switzerland to put aside neutrality and take sides!
In the case of Sweden, more than worrying that Russia was a military threat to them (Finland and even the northern tip of Norway would be a geographical buffer, and there's lot of NATO countries in the Baltic Sea that would be a maritime buffer) it seems to be a political advantage thing... with Germany's demographic decline diminishing its position and the UK kind of mired in internal Brexit problems, Sweden is now instantly a big dog in NATO along with France and a rising Poland.
We are living in a significant time.

Old Russian saying - The past is unpredictable. You just have to look at the people expunged from the May Day parade photos, and that's just surface level. The irony is that Putin and his gang of Oligarchs may disappear from the Russian history at some point in the future. In fact it seems likely.

I’m interested in things that happen throughout history, what im not interested in is building a macroeconomic viewpoint around something that happened 50 years ago when the Soviet Union existed because it helps my point
