?????????? On the massive Ukrainian drone attack on Russian airfields

During the night, the AFU launched drones into Russian territory.

??The primary target was the Morozovsk airfield in the Rostov region, where Ukrainian forces dispatched 44 drones. The exact type remains unknown and will be determined upon analyzing the debris. However, there is a high likelihood that these are the same UAVs that the enemy has been utilizing in recent weeks.

Out of these, 26 drones were intercepted by Pantsir-S1 air defense missile systems, and 18 by rifle squads. Based on the videos circulating online, it is evident that the drones were flying at an extremely low altitude, enhancing the level of stealth.

There was no significant damage to the infrastructure. The debris hit a few buildings. Additionally, the substation suffered damage, resulting in a temporary power outage.

?? Simultaneously, the enemy also targeted the airfield in Yeysk, where local air defense units neutralized ten UAVs. All of them crashed off the coast of the Sea of Azov and seemingly originated from the Zaporizhzhia/Dnipro region.

?? At least one more UAV from the AFU was struck while approaching the strategic aviation airfield in Engels. The reason for the presence of only one drone is unclear. There might have been more UAVs heading in that direction, but they were possibly intercepted over Yeysk and Morozovsk.

?? Thanks to the swift response of the air defense crews, any severe repercussions from the attacks were averted - claims from Ukrainian sources about the alleged destruction of six aircraft are fakes coming from enemy propagandists. However, the recent attacks highlight the enhanced capability of the enemy to strike targets beyond the front line.

This once again emphasizes the importance of countermeasures (rifle detachments have consistently proven their usefulness) and the necessity for safeguarding aviation at bases. The infamous hangars, frequently discussed, continue to pose challenges in terms of implementation.

NATO is discussing the possibility of admitting Ukraine to the alliance in exchange for the cession of territories to Russia, - La Repubblica

Although this option is not an official position, it is being discussed informally and is becoming increasingly realistic, especially in light of the upcoming #US elections.

As the newspaper points out, #Russia will be offered to retain #Crimea and all the territories that were captured over the past two years. Then the borders will be fixed and #Ukraine will be accepted into #NATO. This scenario, according to journalists, is reminiscent of the situation after World War II, when Germany was divided into Eastern and Western parts.

The article indicates that such a scenario would speed up the release of aid to Kyiv, which is currently blocked in Congress, especially in anticipation of Trump's possible return to the White House.

The Russian Investigative Committee has said that it allegedly found a photo of the Ukrainian military in the phone of one of the terrorists who attacked Crocus

The agency has published footage of disassembled phones, which the terrorists allegedly "tried to destroy". In the phone of one of those accused of committing a terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall, according to the security services, were found photos of Ukrainian military, as well as screenshots from "Yandex.Maps" - showing how to get to the concert hall.

The IC states that the terrorists received them "in the morning of February 24, 2024" that is, on the anniversary of the start of the "SMO".

This information is not confirmed by anything, and the collage with photos of the military appeared online more than a year ago.

Ukraine prepares deployment of long-range drones capable of targeting Urals and Polar regions – Bild
April 5, 2024, 05:47 AM

Ukraine plans to deploy drones with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers this year, addressing the void in medium and long-range missiles, the German newspaper Bild reported on April 4.

"Missiles are a thing of the past. Drones are the future," their source said.

By the end of the year, ten manufacturers are expected to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with drones capable of reaching distances up to 2,500 km.

Among these new drones is the Sokil-3000, developed by the Kyiv-based Luch design bureau, which boasts a range of up to 3,300 km.

Kyiv Confirms Ukrainian Drones Destroyed 6 Russian Planes at Air Base, as Many as 3 Sites Blasted

A massive drone attack slammed the Morozovsk airfield in Rostov region taking out planes that Russia uses to target Ukrainian army positions and frontline cities. Three other sites were hit.
by Kateryna Zakharchenko, Alisa Orlova | April 5, 2024, 11:48 am

Kyiv Post sources within Ukraine's Special Services have confirmed that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in collaboration with the military and the Defense Forces, orchestrated the nighttime assault on the Morozovsk airfield, resulting in the destruction of at least six aircraft.

The airfield housed Su-24, Su-24M, and Su-34 frontline bombers, which Russia employs to target Ukrainian army positions and frontline cities.

According to the Kyiv Post source, "At least six Russian military aircraft were destroyed, and another eight were heavily damaged. In addition to the equipment, about 20 Russian servicemen were either killed or wounded."

"This operation is of paramount importance and will significantly diminish the combat capabilities of the Russian forces," the source added.

Ukraine fired dozens of drones at Russia's southern Rostov region, home to its army headquarters for the military offensive, in the early hours of Friday, Russian officials said.

Russia's defense ministry said it downed 53 Ukrainian drones overnight – 44 over the Rostov region – while the governor said a power station was damaged in the attack.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 05 April 2024

Russia has brought under state control some 180 companies, likely worth approximately USD $11.5 billion, since its invasion of Ukraine commenced in February 2022. Foreign-owned companies have almost certainly been prioritised, including companies owned by Russians who live abroad. This is highly likely due to the state's desire to reduce foreign (particularly Western) ties in the Russian economy.

The Russian state has been redistributing assets to Kremlin-aligned businesspeople who support the war in Ukraine. This de-privatisation is likely linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin's call in his State of the Nation address in February 2024 for a new nationalist elite forged by the war in Ukraine. Increased defence spending has almost certainly increased financial pressures on the Russian state, alongside economic sanctions and flows of capital out of Russia since the start of the invasion. The Russian state is highly likely establishing greater control over companies in 'strategic' industries, such as defence.

Ukraine’s Drainpipe Drones Open A New Era Of Long-Range Strikes

While the U.S. is cautious about providing Ukraine with long-range strike capability, the Ukrainians are forging ahead with homebuilt solutions. Some of these are simple but bold expedients like packing a light aircraft with explosive and operating it by remote control but one new drone is a small masterpiece of elegant, low-cost engineering.

Any serious military has had military observers in Ukraine since at least March 2022. That happens in ALL wars.

To say they are there to participate is no different than Ron Paul and friends claiming that Marine guards at embassies and consulates are military bases.

The split in NATO leadership has become apparent now. The US – Euro positions of the last 80 years have flipped. The European members, led by Macron of all people, are now the aggressors pushing to increase weaponry that can be used against targets inside Russia. Meanwhile, the escalation managers of the White House and the pro-Russian Trump GOP have taken the opposite position. The purposeful lack of initiative shown by the US is destroying decades of work in building leadership and influence in Europe.

Incorrect. Macron as well as the leaders of Poland, the Baltic countries, Romania, etc have realized that Trump was right and they can’t just do nothing and expect the USA to bail them out. They have also realized that Scholz and Biden are pussies. It’s not about a lack of leadership it’s about Europe pulling its own weight.

I still don't see the value in adding a country to an alliance that will only be a liability, not an asset, but if it ends the war and Russia would actually agree to this then get it done.

Why are we still in NATO? There is absolutely no justification for our continued involvement. Europe is more than capable of providing for their own collective defense without freeloading off the US dime.

Power.

But its just as much about the denial of power and influence to other countries as it is us wanting it for ourselves. I have a lot of criticisms of NATO, but its objectively a good thing to deny power to China and to a lesser extent Russia.

Hopefully one good thing to come out of this war is that European countries will realize that they don't want their defense (or lack thereof) to be determined by the whims of the fickle American voting public.

100%. Ukraine policy is one Biden will have to swallow. It is an absolute failure. Ukraine was doomed when they were denied the right to strike into Russia with western weapons. How can you fight a war with this policy? This is absurd. Biden has refused to even provide the long range weapons.

Dementia Joe, Sullivan, Blinkin and the affirmative action choice Loyd Austin are all weak failures.

Apparently the only thing Russia can do successfully is send hundreds of men charging a machine gun position.

You've just described the entirety of Russian military history. They've never been particularly adept at warfare, at least not against a technological peer. Their best 3 weapons have always been distance, winter, and bodies. They've traditionally just thrown human waves at their enemies until the problem goes away.

I’m not entirely sure Russia would accept these terms. But if they do, Ukraine should jump at this chance to end the war now. I don’t see how they could get better terms.

That wouldn’t have changed anything, the only way to stop the Russians would be the inflict so many casualties that the Russians would be compelled to seek peace.

Ukraine needed what we sent, armored vehicles, air defense systems, and artillery, but in much larger quantities. Not 200 m777s, but 600. Not a 100 Leopards, but 1,200.

They need aircraft too, but in much larger numbers than we’ve talked about. They don’t need 40 F-16s, they need 160.
