WTF do you think they expect to learn from an M1A1 without the special armor composite?

AHAHAHA I knew this excuse was coming. "b-b-but the abrams don't have the special armor!"

It does not have the depleted uranium armor and all of the classified electronic gear was removed and swapped out for foreign gear. For example the optics were swapped out for French made optics that Russia already has access to since it was buying the optics for its T90s from France prior to 2014. The armor on the Abrams in Ukraine is the same export armor that is on the Abrams that the USA sold to Iraq and Saudi Arabia which Russia and Iran had access to because Saudi Arabia had quite a few M1s knocked out in their Yemen campaign. I do not know if the depleted uranium armor would have made a difference because from the videos I have seen each Abrams that has been destroyed was either hit by a drone on top of the ammunition bustle which has very thin armor to allow shells to explode upwards without killing the crew or took multiple hits from ATGMs. The M1s seemed to survive the first 2 hits but the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and even 6th hit pretty much did them in.

appreciate a good history lesson as much as the next guy. But let's focus on what Trump is doing right now, in the current circumstances. He is actively blocking all aid, military and otherwise, to Ukraine at a critical point in that war. He is defending Putin.

He is defending Putin.

Look, I'm not a Biden supporter but those are the facts. No amount of rationalization can change that.

America First

He has given his approval for Aid to Ukraine as long as it is in the form of a 0% loan. Zelensky has said that he ok with that. MAGA has allied himself with President Cargo Pants. How does that make you feel? You are now aligned with the side opposite MAGA.

The former president further raised concern in the West after he said that he would encourage Russia to do "whatever the hell it wants" to NATO members that do not meet the 2% defense spending mark.

If a country is unwilling to spend even 2% on its own defense, why should we be expected to send our sons to their shores to shed their blood in their defense?

I agree. If a country that does not meet its obligations then it should not expect us to come to its aid under Article 5. France is increasing its defense spending and it should meet the 2% threshold later this year. Germany just reached the 2% threshold. Unfortunately, most of the country's not meeting the 2% mark are in western europe and unlikely to be attacked by anyone or Turkey. Turkey should be kicked out of NATO for many reasons but since it controls the Bosphorous it does not have to worry about that.

If you increase from 2% to 3% then the the increase is 50%.

Poland is spending over 2% now, but France for instance is slightly under 2%.

If all the European nations spent a full 3% of GDP that would make a very big difference.

You’d be shocked what just that 1% rise in GDP funding from 2% to
3% would do for strengthening NATO.

The USA and Poland already spend over 3%. Germany is considering increasing its defense spending to 3.5% by the 2030s. If Britain and France agree to do so as well then Putin's plan to split up NATO would have back fired in even more epic proportions.

That is good news for Ukraine. It would be even better news if Canada or the USA sent some twin Hueys and Super Cobra helicopters to Ukraine to fire them from.

Those are unguided rockets of which 8,000 are believed to be in full working order. When they lowball a number like that you can usually easily double that number to find the true working number of the rockets. It could be even more than that. The rest will be put to good use by breaking them down and using them for drone strikes. i can’t understand the lack of helicopters not going to Ukraine either. It really just blows my mind, especially when I know how many recently retired Marine Super Cobras and twin Hueys that we have still in working order. It just doesn’t add up. Especially when you know Russia is going to spend the next 12-18 months trying to break Ukrainian defenses, it sure would help to have even a small fleet of attack helicopters that can fire TOW missiles or use their guns to help the infantry blunt those attacks.

Well there you have it.....

quote:

MOSCOW/BRUSSELS, March 11 (Reuters) - The Kremlin on Monday said a call by Pope Francis for talks to end the Ukraine war was "quite understandable", but NATO's boss said now was not the time to talk about "surrender".
Pope Francis said in an interview recorded last month that Ukraine should have "the courage of the white flag" to negotiate an end to a conflict that has killed tens of thousands.
As the West grapples with how to support Ukraine and the prospect of a sharp change in U.S. policy if Donald Trump wins November's presidential election, Putin has essentially offered to freeze the battlefield along its current front lines, a premise Ukraine rejects.

Russia wants Ukraine de-militarized, and a puppet installed in what territory Russia doesn’t take. These will be the end of Ukraine as an independent state. Ukraine will continue to fight with those terms.

The only rationale that I have seen mentioned online is that it would take too long to train the pilots and maintainers. That was from "an expert on reddit" in October of 2022. Yes it would take months to train crews how to operate Hueys and Super Cobras and how to maintain them. Russia is advancing < 5km per month. Ukraine has the time if the west would get off its arse. It could also transfer the helicopters to our allies and have them send their Soviet era helicopters to Ukraine. Romania has 4 Mi8/Mi17 helicopters still active and 39 decommissioned ones in storage. Poland still has 27 Mi8s and 18 Mi24s in active service. Ukraine would not even need training on those helicopters since they currently operate them.

I do wonder, why do you bring up perverse sex in your posts, it is really disturbing. Im certain you can find other sites for that nonsense.

Problem being they would most likely want new Blackhawks and Apaches in return, not Twin Hueys and Super Cobras in exchange for old, used soviet helicopters would be a net loss for the U.S. Now they could come to an agreement where they hand their fleets of soviet helicopters and receive new ones in exchange but not as many numerically as are handed over to Ukraine. So if one had 40 Hind attack helicopters then maybe they would get 10 new Apaches. We still lose as 10 Apaches are way more than 40 Hinds but it wouldn’t look as bad. You would need to know the condition those helicopters were in also.
