Just because he has movie star good looks doesn’t mean he cannot be a leading intellectual on the big issues facing the planet.
Try to be more open minded about these things….

I think it’s the social media effect on news. Everyone is in a rush to be the first to report or the first to confirm that they end up running with rumors that end being confirmed by other rumors.

That is 100% of 99% of our problems. What makes it worse is people run with the rumors and can never be convinced otherwise even when more facts come out because that is the globohomos, the Rothschilds, or some other ghost covering up the "truth".

ISW update

quote:

In accordance with its policy against speculating about future Ukrainian actions, ISW is not covering reported leaks concerning possible changes in the Ukrainian command structure. ISW will continue to report official statements by Ukrainian government officials and organizations as they are made.

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces struck Russian targets in the vicinity of Belbek airfield in occupied Sevastopol, Crimea on January 31.

Russian President Vladimir Putin doubled down on his maximalist and purposefully vague territorial objectives in Ukraine on January 31.

Ukrainian and Russian forces conducted a prisoner-of-war (POW) exchange on January 31, exchanging 195 Russian POWs for 207 Ukrainian POWs.

The European Union (EU) will reportedly fall short of its promise to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells by March 1, 2024, as European leaders call on EU member states to intensify deliveries of ammunition to Ukraine.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Russian-Chinese relations are at their “best period in their history” in a January 31 call with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun.

Kremlin officials and mouthpieces continued rhetorical efforts to prevent Moldova’s integration into the EU and to set information conditions to justify future Russian aggression against Moldova.

The Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that it recently conducted a cyberattack on a Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) communications server.

Estonian Defense Forces Commander General Martin Herem stated that Russia may be behind recent GPS jamming in the Baltic region.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Bakhmut, near Avdiivka, and southwest of Donetsk City amid positional engagements along the entire line of contact on January 31.

Russian forces reportedly formed a “secret” battalion of penal recruits to conduct offensive operations in western Zaporizhia Oblast but are reportedly disbanding the battalion.

Russian and occupation officials continue efforts to erase Ukrainian cultural and ethnic identity in occupied territories.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 01 February 2024

The Russian National Guard, Rosgvardia, is incorporating three former Wagner assault detachments, the 15th, 16th and 17th, into its first Volunteer Corps formation. On 25 December 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law authorising Rosgvardia to form its own volunteer formations.

Rosgvardia will likely deploy its new volunteer detachments to Ukraine and Africa. Rosgvardia is reportedly offering volunteers six-month contracts for service in Ukraine, and nine-month contracts for service in Africa.

The incorporation of former Wagner assault detachments into Rosgvardia's Volunteer Corps highly likely indicates that Wagner has been successfully subordinated to Rosgvardia, increasing the Russian state's command and control over the Wagner Group.

Huge.

President of the European Council: LINK

We have a deal. #Unity

All 27 leaders agreed on an additional €50 billion support package for Ukraine within the EU budget.

This locks in steadfast, long-term, predictable funding for #Ukraine.

EU is taking leadership & responsibility in support for Ukraine; we know what is at stake.

Ukrainian forces destroy Russia's Ivanovets missile boat

On the night of January 31 to February 1, soldiers of the Group 13 special unit of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) destroyed the Ivanovets missile boat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

The intelligence agency reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

The operation was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the United24 fundraising platform, HUR said.

The boat was in the roadstead of Lake Donuzlav in temporarily occupied Crimea.

As a result of a series of direct hits to the hull, the Russian warship suffered critical damage, rolled and sank.

The ship lost by the aggressor state is estimated to be worth about $60-70 million.

According to preliminary information, a search and rescue operation carried out by the Russian invaders was not successful, HUR said.

The Black Fleet got smaller again, as the Ivanovets joined the Moskva and many others at the bottom of the ocean. Video shows the Ukrainian Navy hitting the ship with multiple naval drones, and the video shows the ship eventually sinking. According to Wikipedia, the normal complement for a Tarantul-class corvette would be about 50 sailors.

It was definitely an eye-opening video. One drone blows a hole in the hull, and then another drone steers to explode right into the exact spot of the breach.

Hope we have better capabilities to stop this type of attack. otherwise its only a matter of time before a Iranian made sea drone (in their hads or one of their proxies hands)does the same to one of our ships.....

Does the navy still utilize the Phalanx gun system? With and and sea drone swarms, putting large amounts of small projectiles in the air seems to be the best last line of defense....and cheaper and quicker reload time then expensive missiles

That’ll buff right out just needs a little elbow grease. Yes the Phalanx is still in use with our Navy. My big question is where are all the magic Russian dolphins at? Sleeping on the job or since they are Russian dolphins probably having dinner and a bottle of vodka somewhere.

Workaround to keep our surplus aiding the Ukrainians - ours goes to Greece and Greece's goes to Ukraine.

quote:

As the Republican Party’s blockade of aid to Ukraine drags into its fourth month, the U.S. government under Pres. Joe Biden has found a clever new way to give Ukraine’s forces the weapons and ammunition they need to defend their country.

It is, in essence, an American version of Germany’s circular weapons trade—the so-called Ringtausch. The United States is gifting older surplus weapons to Greece with the understanding that Greece donates to Ukraine some of its own surplus weapons.

Greek media broke the news last week. According to the newspaper Kathimerini and other media, the Biden administration offered the Greek government three 87-foot Protector-class patrol boats, two Lockheed Martin C-130H airlifters, 10 Allison T56 turboprop engines for Lockheed P-3 patrol planes plus 60 M-2 Bradley fighting vehicles and a consignment of transport trucks.

All this hardware is U.S. military surplus—and is available to Greece, free of charge, under a U.S. legal authority called “excess defense articles.” Federal law allows an American president to declare military systems surplus to need, assign them a value—potentially zero dollars—and give them away on the condition that the recipient transport them.

The law caps annual EDA transfers at $500 million. The same law doesn’t dictate the value the president assigns to surplus weapons. In a letter to Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the ships, planes, engines and vehicles as “free concessions.”

Grease gets to upgrade their older equipment with our older equipment ant the same time Ukraine gets Greece's old equipment, some of which is old soviet area equipment.

LINK

Wiki says they still have 144 BMP-1A1s in their armed forces. So Greece gets 60 Bradleys and will then likely send 60 BMP-1s to Ukraine....

So Greece, a NATO country, gets US equipment and gets rid of Soviet Equipment.... Win/Win

Even our 90s era equipment is stacking up well vs russia's current equipment

Ayden, one of the largest pro-Russian accounts on Twitter with 104k followers, has some serious cope out this morning:

He seems to be completely unaware that Russia has been using its corvettes like this one to hit Odessa with lots of missiles.

Ah, Ayden. I see he's still coping about naval losses and not talking about the "imminent fall of Avdviika" anymore?

Also saw the €50b package from the EU. Literal crickets on the PT.

Yes one of them shot down a Houthi missile the other day. However I suspect with enough targets you could still overwhelm it. Say multiple aerial and sea drones from different directions at the same time.
