And then when all of that happens and Ukraine is clearly winning this war, a worn, desperate, defeated and vitally ill Putin begins dropping nukes because he does not give a frick. Maybe some are directed at us.

Then what?

Or what if Ukraine’s counterattack falls apart and an elated Putin steamrolls across Ukraine, threatens Poland and Poland responds with their army?

Then what?

We can play what if all day, but if you are worried about deranged Russians dropping nukes on us you are late to the party. I’ve been worried about that since the Cuban missile crisis.

This is so boring. We've discussed nuclear scenarios 100 times already in this thread. Anyone can search and read all of the same arguments that we are about to read all over again.

NV asked Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, to explain how Storm Shadow compares to the famous ATACMS.

Yet another reason to get behind American support of Ukraine. Let them work out the kinks of some of our stuff in a true combat scenario before our boys have to find the flaws of said system while they are under fire in whatever future plays out for our military.

Bigger bang and more range. The question is numbers, how many many are the brits committing?

This is one of the main reasons why we're there. We're not "fighting for democracy".

Thank you cypher for the updates and please keep them coming.

And at less than $30,000 apiece, the rockets are cheaper than Ukraine’s larger air-defense missiles, said Greg Fortier, the vice president of SAIC’s Army Business Unit.

I wish we had different terminology for drones of different sizes instead of just the blanket term drone. When I initially read this, I was thinking DJI sized drones and the $30,000 rocket price was a bit of a sticker shock. I consistently find myself thinking of small drones (mainly because I've played with them quite a bit) when reading about drones being used in warfare and not considering the drones that are airplane sized.

Some? This is all self-serving interest. We don't give a rat's arse about "preserving/saving democracy" in Ukraine.

Yet another Ka-52 attack helo downed in Bakhmut. Russia has now lost 1/3 of its entire fleet of these helicopters and that is just what has been visually confirmed. The real number between destroyed and damaged could be around half of their entire fleet.

Is there a current quasi-accurate number of casualties for both sides as of now?

Being an Alligator pilot in this war has to be something akin to being on a B17 crew in WW2. Just incredibly dangerous with really high casualties.

I wonder what kind of rates these guys are getting injured or taking hits to their craft but still able to make it back to base too. Gotta think there are some like the old pictures of B17's coming back looking like Swiss cheese. Or that famous picture of the A10 missing nearly an entire wing and one of the engines blown up.

Depends on which sources you think would provide that. The main "non-biased" source would be onyx only because it's visually confirmed losses, but it's way under reported because of that. Ukraine overstates russian losses and doesnt report its own and Russia understates its losses and way overstates Ukraines (I think they've destroyed every HIMRAS 3 times now)

Some NATO members have announced Russian casulty rates, but it depends on if you think they would release accurate info or not

All in all it's probably fairly close in terms of totally casualties but accuracy is gonna be hard to find. The trends do help though

This is a mistake imo. It’s telling the Germans and Hungarians oppose while the Poles and Baltics support.

Not good. Helicopters can’t take the battle damage that a B-17 could. They can only take minimal hits and stay in the air. Anything that hits the rotor blades or hydraulic system odds are it’s falling out of the sky. A B-17 could stay in the air on 2 engines albeit at a drastic cost of lost airspeed which meant they were left behind by the rest of the bomb group to fend for themselves and became prime targets for the Luftwaffe. Helicopters have really taken a brutal beating in this war on both sides. While flying under radar helps with all the air defenses out there it leaves them wide open for MANPADS.
