Russia appears to have abandoned Kherson Airport. At one point in the war it was a major Russian base.

The #Kherson airport near #Chornobaivka is quiet tonight. Imagery from Oct 27 shows that nearly all vehicles have been removed, leaving just scars in the form of mud trails and vehicle revetments. There were so many attacks here there's a Wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Chornobaivka_attacks

BKR where are you, we need your insight on why Russia would pull out of its major installation in the Kherson area. Seems a strange move to make if they aren't abandoning Kherson.

The talking heads on Russian state TV (Solovyov and guest) broach the topic of why stop in Ukraine... well there it is.

Key Takeaways

Russian forces are not making significant progress around Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast or anywhere else along the front lines.

President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the end of partial mobilization.

Putin may be attempting to rehabilitate Shoigu’s image in the information space to counter the growing influence of the pro-war siloviki faction.

The growing influence of the siloviki faction is continuing to fracture the Russian pro-war community.

Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces conducted counteroffensive operations in the direction of Kreminna and Svatove.

Russian forces continued to deploy mobilized personnel to and establish defensive positions on the west bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast.

Russian sources claimed that Ukrainian forces conducted counteroffensive operations in northwestern Kherson Oblast.

Russian forces continued ground attacks in Donetsk Oblast.

Russian occupation authorities completed their "evacuation” of parts of occupied Kherson Oblast.

Russian occupation authorities reportedly plan to force Russian citizenship on Ukrainian civilians in occupied parts of Ukraine by October 30, likely in part to legalize the forced mobilization of Ukrainian civilians as part of the November 1 autumn conscription cycle.

Russian occupation authorities are continuing their attempts to erase Ukrainian history, culture, and national identity in Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine.

Watching the Netflix remake of All Quiet On The Western Front. Hellish trench warfare. You’d think the Russians would have learned after a century.

Having a decent morning. Think I'll bump this again.

I’m sorry. I thought you were competent and informed.

Google Ukraines defense minister explaining their losses per day. As he said, 100-200 per day.

You might have to do a little math, but most devices these days have a calculator.

Let me know if you need more help.

Glad your morning is going well.

I'll be frank, my friend: you come across as so painfully stupid that it hurts for me to respond to you.

First, you do realize that specific quote was in reference to a short time period in June during a Russian offensive? That it is not the attrition rate for the entire duration of the war or even most of it?

Second, you do realize that Russia was the side that had to call up more than a quarter million in reservists to backfill their losses in the operation?

Again, cite your sources. Do your homework like a big boy and not some redneck hack that you probably are. Let's see it.

TBF, Russia in 2022. didn't plan nor expect to get bogged down in static positions. Neither did Germany in 1914. But once you're there, you're there.

hey have prebuilt concrete covers for fighting positions they were moving in. I didn't screen cap it but they look like a large piece of culvert a few feet long with a conical top. They just dig a round fighting position connected to their trenchworks and then the "roof" is set over it. I have no idea what it can and can't stop munitions-wise but it beats the hell out of logs though it sticks out like a sore thumb which like a pillbox draws fire.

The bunkers aren’t camouflaged? If not
that is kinda stupid for Wagner to do. When Ukraine forces take their position they are getting the cover Wagner built. They also know where the “Pillboxes” are at which makes it easier to defeat.

Wagner doesn’t care about their people. It’s just something to slow them down

Don't laugh at that. That's about what they had us using as some sort of anti-IED device in Iraq circa 2008. Wooden box with glow plugs on a pole 10 feet in front of the truck.

Russia's economy is about to collapse.

All power plant projects on hold, including turnarounds.

Retails sales 40% decline

The unemployment didn't rise due Enron accounting. Temporary leave without pay and similar. Reality is that millions of jobs were lost.

40% decline in AC/refrigerator manufacturing

Having driven Sweden and Finland into the arms of NATO, Russia is about to do the same for Ireland

quote:

The Russian Ambassador has claimed if Ireland provides any help to Ukraine to clear land mines it would result in the country being directly involved in the conflict.

Yury Filatov said: "There is no way around the fact that by engaging with the Ukrainian military, be it on mines or otherwise, Ireland would clearly be involved in the ongoing conflict in a direct way."

Last week, Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said Ireland will participate in the EU training mission for the Ukrainian Armed Forces

The mission is expected to get under way in mid-November.

British Defence Intelligence
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 29 October 2022
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE

On 27 October 2022, the Russian-appointed governor of Ukraine's occupied Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said that more than 70,000 people had now left Kherson city.

On 26 October 2022, Saldo also claimed that Russia had removed the remains of the well-known 18th century Russian statesman, Prince Grigory Potemkin, from his tomb in Kherson's cathedral to east of the Dnipro.

In the Russian national identity, Potemkin is heavily associated with the Russian conquest of Ukrainian lands in the 18th century and highlights the weight Putin almost certainly places on perceived historical justification for the invasion. This symbolic removal of Potemkin and the civilian exodus likely pre-empts Russian intent to expedite withdrawal from the area.
