Of course. Russia can launch drone swarms and knock out the Ukrainian power grid but when they respond with their own attack they act offended and decide to stop allowing exports. All Putin is doing is digging his hole deeper. It’s beyond me why the Russian people and the military haven’t risen up and overthrown him already.

Now beyond any reasonable doubt that the type of surface drones used by #Ukraine to attack Russian Navy in Sevastopol today were same as one previous found near the base. #OSINT

#Ukraine: Remarkable video of today's attack on the Russian Sevastopol Naval Base.
Ukrainian Uncrewed Surface Vessels (Drone boats filled with explosives) apparently managed to hit a Project 11356R frigate (presumably Admiral Makarov) & the Ivan Golubets Project 266M minesweeper.

There are too many games afoot. E.g., China sells the EU NatGas ... But China imports about half its own NatGas ... ETA CitK is correct... Russia is China's 4th largest NatGas supplier. The value of natural gas coming from Russia via pipeline to China almost tripled in the first eight months to $2.39B. Meanwhile, China exported a record $164M in LNG to Europe – including Spain, France – and another record $284M to Japan, South Korea and Thailand in the first eight months of 2022.

#Ukraine: 28 Slovenian ???? M-55S tanks were successfully transferred to Ukraine.

The M-55S is a deeply modernized variant of the obsolete T-55 tank, receiving 105mm L7 guns with stabilization, ERA, digital ballistic computers, laser rangefinders and new sights.

their largest import source? ...Russia.
China imports way more from Turkmenistan than Russia.

The only pipeline for natural gas to China from Russia is a spur off a mainline to the Pacific. Your idea is laughable. Russia doesn't have the capability to export LNG on the scale of Qatar, USA or Australia.

China has a lot of contracts for US LNG. They may or may not ship that to China. That was the basis for most of the LNG export liquefaction terminals obtaining FID. China imports the vast majority from Australia NOT Russia. It imports less from Russia as LNG than from the USA. Turkmenistan is its biggest source via pipeline which is more than double the imports from Russia via pipeline AND LNG.

They show these every day on the pop culture news sites. I don't see how Russia has any left at this point.

Which means O&G revenue which accounts for more than a 1/3 of their budget is cut significantly bc they’re selling it for far less than the market value which China is benefitting from.

Russia will be able to replace about 50% of exports to Europe with a new pipeline to China in 2025.

Russia's total LNG capacity is less than Cheniere Energy's Sabine Pass. LA terminal all by itself. It is a minor LNG export nation.

The ruble is artificially high. You can’t trade it on the foreign exchange market. But they’re only hurting themselves by doing that. A strong ruble, like a strong dollar, hurts exports. An artificial strong price results in all the negatives and none of the positives.

Its rally means Russia's income from dollar-linked oil and gas sales is falling, a likely hit to its economy

Hours later, a statement by the foreign ministry in Moscow said: "The Russian side cannot guarantee the safety of civilian dry cargo ships participating in the 'Black Sea Initiative', and suspends its implementation from today for an indefinite period."

It said the move was "in connection with the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces, which were led by British specialists" and that these actions "were directed... against Russian ships that ensured the functioning of the said humanitarian corridor".

My Russian is a little rusty, but I think Russia is saying it can no longer guaranty civilian grain ships will be safe from Russian attacks. Russian peace keeping missions really are a bipolar affair.

Which Russian troll was it again saying the US should only get involved to protect shipping and trade?

Experts now expect Russia's GDP to contract 2.9% in 2022 and 0.9% in 2023. There is obviously a chasm between 40% and 2.9%. The question is WTF is going on to account for the difference?

I'm no economic expert, but I suspect that increased oil revenues are making all the numbers look good. If that was subtracted out, I think that Russian economy would look very different.

Is there published data on Russian employment? Manufacturing? Other indicators that might show how robust the Russian economy is?

Do you want to know how they can grow Ukranians? This dude is only 25....

He looks like a movie villain. A couple years ago he nearly got blacklisted from competition after dotting the eye of another Ukrainian competitor for helping a Russian athlete with something.
