Much of what has been allocated was old stuff which should have scrap value on the books but can guarantee it is listed at a higher value for purposes of at hand. In the 1990's many of the Bradley's were used as artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico. If they were sent to Ukraine, they would have been listed at maybe $500k each.

We are involved because Russia, led by a man who has stated he wants to rebuild the Soviet Union, has invaded multiple states in the last decade decided now to invade a sovereign European country. A side benefit is that the U.S. gets to watch the whole Russian military apparatus get significantly downgraded without putting boots on the ground.

And it will be over when:

Like the ~200 M113s we sent. The listed value will be much higher because they were actually a negative draw just keeping them operational. Add to that in the allocation total the 113s will be counted AND they money paid to defense contractors to replace them is also counted. Over 15% of the allocation is for us to replace the equipment we send and the equipment we are sending is counted in another portion of the allocation as direct aid.

We keep hearing numbers, but some are repeated over and over. Some herd had it at 40 billion per month, but I know that was bogus.

I think a good accounting from a reliable source could clear the air.

I posted a few pages back, but 18B in total aid has been spent. This is both Military and Humanitarian aid

Roughly 6B from the presidential drawdown fund is part of that as well, and includes 2 draw downs from 2021.

40B has been authorized from Congress.

The sad part is that these rubes probably weren’t aware that Yanukovych had Paul Manafort on his payroll during that time.

Thanks. I am sure one of the scholars here will check your numbers. Lol

How much is direct military aid, direct humanitarian aid, and how much is “overhead” to pay for the “process”.
By process I mean the accounting, shipping and red tape.

You should be well versed in the practice then.

No doubt. Nonetheless, it does add up.

We will pay for this.

This is a benefit.

Again, I’m not against measures such as these (even though they add up).

How many fighters does Ukraine have operational? How many does Russia have in theater?

My understanding from someone familiar with their use is that they are fuel hogs which constantly throw tracks and light up like a candle easily. They do work well as ambulances

I fear this thread is lost. The PT crazies are taking it over.

I scroll past most posts that don't have links. That weeds out a lot of it.

They have limited use on the modern battlefield. My biggest gripe about them (though I don't want to be inside any armor or even around it) is they have minimal offensive capability. I just see them as a ride but worse than a Humvee that at least I can see out of and ingress and egress quickly.

This is interesting, this is supposedly nonoperational but I wonder if Ukraine got it working?
