But they do. Otherwise Putin wouldn't be scared to declare war. He knows mass conscription would lead to mass resistance, and he doesn't have the leverage of a Stalin to compel the population. He's been trying to do it on the cheap. If he thought he could get away with it he wouldn't be using these slapdick measures.

Litterally every source on the internet, tv, radio, print jouralism, and HAM radio is saying that the Russians are making small gains at best. Are you high?

If by kids and old men you mean males aged 18-50 and by no training you mean 2 years of prior military service and 3 months worth of combat refresher courses run by US and NATO trainers they you might be on to something. Otherwise you are just talking out of your arse.

Also you are talking out of your arse when it comes to the Battle of Sievierodonetsk. Ukraine realized it could not hold Sievierodonetsk back in late April so they changed strategies. They decided that their goal was tie up Russia for 2 weeks and cause over 20,000 casualties. By doing that they would wear down Russia's combat power to where they would be forced to go onto the defensive. Well Ukraine kept Russia bogged down in Sievierdonetsk for almost 6 weeks and according to my friend who is a major an officer in Ukrainian intelligence Russia has suffered over 25,000 killed, wounded, captured, or missing since the Battle of Sieveirodonetsk started on May 6th. Now they are withdrawing because their mission is accomplished.

I know, 40,000 dead Russians without the official declaration of war is what I’m getting at. He doesn’t care and the money saved is all that matters to a government that has ZERO problem sacrificing tens of thousands in a fool’s errand.

It is hilarious that so many downvoters here think Ukraine is going to win this conflict. They are out manned, out gunned, and the west is not willing to send troops. This is over. It's only a matter of time.

This statement is actually laughable.

There is simply not enough tactical or strategic information either public or OSINT of a granular enough nature to make this call at this time. Any statement of this sort or the converse is simply wishcasting or doomcasting defending on one's proclivity.

It is one thing to look at even the best-prepared sand table but as someone that has made tactical decisions in the field, the number of variables that go into determining the combat effectiveness of a unit or units is far greater in number and complexity than we have access to.

Without access to governmental intel we are just along for the ride and will have to watch it play out.

I will say I don't think Russia gets out with anything they would have considered a win 6 months ago. I think their best hope is a consolation prize that they can spin enough to appear as enough of a victory to the Russian populace to sell the costs of the invasion which by any metric have been huge. The devastation to parts of Ukraine mean they can't "win" even if they run the bear back across the pre-Feb border.

I'm of the opinion the Ruskies are using Grant's Overland Campaign tactics. Bleed the Ukrainians of troops and supplies they can't replace.

Zelensky is already sending Volkssturm to the front.

In 5 years, Russia will have a buffer between itself and a NATO Ukraine, which is exactly what they wanted.

Arguendo that Ukraine becomes a NATO member and Russia shifts their border even 100kms into the whole of the border region of Ukraine how does this significantly improve their strategic posture?* Add to that the ~1300 klicks that will almost certainly have NATO on the other side of with Finland in 5 years that they don't have now. Anyone that thinks Russia wins in the scenario has an incredibly poor lack of geopolitical awareness.

*it isn't like they are gaining control of the Fulda gap.

This is going to be a long, slow, grinding fight that doesn’t move much on the map but casualties on both sides are going to be high. In that situation you would think the side that wants it and needs it more would be willing to endure those casualties. One country is fighting for their homes and family the other isn’t. If Russia can’t advance with the weapons advantage they have had then what are they going to do in another 2-3 months when even they will have to start conserving ammunition. It takes a hell of a lot of shells to level cities to the ground.

USA is not available to bail out Russia like in WWII with tanks, all of its trucks and jeeps, most of its ammo, artillery, boots, uniforms, rations fuel, factories and even refineries.

Putin is having to send early 1960's tanks to the front which for decades have only been used for training. Next up T-34's out of museums.

Who is losing equipment? Barely any of the promised arms from the West have arrived in Ukraine. These howitzers and MLRS can strike farther and with more accuracy than Russia's best is capable of.

Curious what he was doing living in Mariupol prior to the Russian invasion, and why he didn’t just leave when it started.

Article says the Russians searched his home, so he wasn’t in a hotel..wonder how long he’d been there?

Seems a bit odd.

Interesting namely because Russia has been leaning on Iran on how to avoid US sanctions since they've had a decade or longer to figure that out

Goat accidentally neutralises several invaders in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

I don't care if this isn't true it's damn funny

quote:

A nanny goat has injured several Russian servicemen by triggering their tripwires with pinned grenades in the village of Kinski Rozdory in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Ukraine’s Chief Intelligence Directorate has shared a curious incident that happened at a local hospital.

A total of 40 invaders have been stationed at the medical institution in Kinski Rozdory.
