NATO is the reason why Russia is invading a non-NATO sovereign nation?

NATO said it wouldn’t move east when the USSR broke up….it’s moved very much east since. Ukraine was the last country Russia could do anything in without nato Intervention

And Russia said it would leave Ukraine its independence in exchange for giving up its nuclear arsenal.

And we all see how that turned out. Eight years ago.

ETA: Only one nation has completely ignored its agreements. Only one nation has invaded a sovereign nation. I'm sure you can figure out who that is.

Russia is having a lot of success in Donbas. Major breakthroughs throughout.

Odd, you never seem to show the maps from the Kharkiv region.

Why is that?

Then I'm glad you understand why the Russian invasion of a sovereign nation is wrong and should be rebuked.

Rebuked, yes. Actively engaged by American troops? No

Oh, so now borders aren't really borders, and they shouldn't be respected and defended as long as it's just a "small targeted and restrained invasion in a neighboring country"

That’s not what I said.

Sounds like you support Mexico invading California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. After all, it's a neighboring country that it has a long history with and partial support in.

They’d have much more justification than the United States in the Middle East for sure.

You’ve said that for weeks now and that map has barely changed.

Well good thing they aren't.

My quote was word for word from your post. If you didn't say that, you should edit your post.

We're not talking about the middle east.

I’m more interested with the major front of the war. Russia is winning decisively there.

If things continue, as predicted, Russia will take Donbas.

So Russia abandoning the second largest city and biggest industrial city in the country isn't a major front?

Your focus seems rather selective. Why is that?

You have got to be some kind of fricking stupid to believe this.

Your incorrect use of a comma here actually changes the intended meaning of your sentence. But I digress.

It was "predicted" that Russia would take Kiev in three weeks. But that didn't happen.

Do you still think Russia takes the entire country, captures the capital, destroys the entire Ukrainian Army, and forces the government to capitulate?

I wonder if the lines on your map are accurate if all of the major fighting is within those lines. Wouldn’t the major battles be within Ukrainian controlled areas if the Russians are advancing?

Aww, everybody's picking on poor Russia! Won't let them intimidate and invade whomever the hell they want.

How dare those nationalities who aspire to be part of the Western European democracies instead of an authoritarian dictatorship get such crazy ideas?

Yawn…Destroying the army is more important than taking a city and depleting resources to maintain control of it.

No, that’s incredibly stupid to think that

BS

Ttump chastised NATO for being weak, not stepping up with the prescribed support, etc. He challenged NATO to do their jobs.

When Trump left office Putin saw his opening. He saw a weak Biden and a chance to increase Russian power in Europe. The Russians acted the same versus Carter and Obama.

This war is on Russia.

I just don't understand why NATO keeps admitting countries that contribute nothing to the mutual defense other than being small "trip-wire" countries. Montenegro or North Macedonia? I know why they join but it does not help NATO in any material sense.

Maybe for continuity. No question they don’t add much. Probably political more than anything.
