Georgia is not a community property state.
Pretty tacky IMHO to be worried about inheritance while Dad and Mom are having trouble.
Clearly the inheritance is the issue.
You should plan on zero for you and your kid and then you will not be disappointed.

Sorry for you and your family.

Use it as a learning lesson.
Ask your dad why he chose to cheat? Use it to ensure your husband doesn't walk around on you. There is nothing gained at this point for you to get into it. Learn from it.
A buddy of mine stepped out on his wife (who was a good looking woman) because she didn't put out. He told us he was happy married except for the sex and that she didn't need it. He flat out told her when he found out he wasn't going to live the rest of his life without a blowjob.
They are now divorced and he's pretty damn happy with his new fiancé. She's mad and says it's all his fault. The guy even found a marriage counselor to go to before he cheated trying to get it figured out.
Sexual incompatibility is a killer.

I imagine it's a midlife crisis kind of thing. I wouldn't ruin your moms life over it. I'm sure it will pass

You judgemental frick. She recently found out her dad is cheating on her mom. Her dad is 68 years old and they have been married for 50 years. The worst thing she could have done was act out emotionally and went to her mom and told her, but instead she did the right thing by giving her dad a chance to tell her.
He is the one who is cheating so he should be the one who tells her and they should be there when he does especially if she is emotionally fragile.
And no matter what, her son still has a good relationship with his grandfather. You are the selfish one. Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to and it goes beyond how you feel. People frick up. That's not an excuse for someone to do so, but it's life. You have to look at things from the outside looking in and see assess the whole situation and figure out the best way to handle it.

Your mom is probably relieved that he isn’t asking her for sex anymore. It may be a net positive in their relationship.
Proceed cautiously and apologize for the initial reaction, while saying basically the same thing, that you don’t want to hear about her again. Suggest that he break it off. But at his age, you aren’t going to change him. He may have suffered a decade in a sexless marriage with your mother, and this kind of thing has allowed him to stay married to her.
You never know.

Didn't your wife cheat on you? With another poster from here? Why is someone who got cheated on and fricked over royally through silence encouraging more of the same to others that are getting cheated on?
Yes, but I was 27. And the stress and the pain and the depression from all of that damn near killed me. And if I had been 70 years old...I think I might have just called it quits.
Of course my emotions say that the wife should know. But my logic says she already probably has an idea. And forcing her dad’s hand could make him initiate a divorce, and a divorce at 70 years old could very likely kill her from the stress and the Heartache.
So logic and reason, in this case, tell me that it might just be best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Yup. It was one of the main things that doomed my marriage. I was miserable because I wasn’t getting any and those negative emotions bled into every other aspect. I am a person that craves affection and intimacy. And because I wasn’t getting it, I know now that eventually I would have stepped out and found somewhere else. In a way it was a kinder cruelty for her to do me like she did because I don’t know if I would have had the strength to leave without that.

There is a chance your mom knows about it already and does not care. Not uncommon among older well off guys, the wife likes the security, and intact family for the sake of kids and grandkids, but doesn't really want to spend time with her husband anymore, him having a girlfriend keeps him occupied and out of her way.

So you and Loretta Castorini have something in common.
Couldn't help but think about Cher and Nick Cage running up on these two.

I think your dad is getting played by a gold digger. I have been through this. He WILL NOT LISTEN to reasonable talk. You have to work on a plan to expose the gold digger or this won't end well.

Keep your parents together. Probably just sexting and nothing significant going on

Leave it alone. They're adults. Your mom may well be aware of it already. No need to open that wound.

What if the text was actually meant for you. And when you responded negatively he came up with the mistress accidental text story?

what should I do? my mom has been with him for 50 years. she doesn't deserve this.
If you can't maintain normal relations, your mom will likely notice, and that could go on for years, torturing her in the process until someone breaks down and tells her.

I asked him about it and he confessed to me and my sister saying how he likes this woman and will tell my mother about it
Give him a chance to tell her. Short rope.

If gramps there starts to think too much with his pecker, the kids will be shite out of luck, especially if the homewrecker tries to move toward a legally binding situation (aka marriage).

Stay out of it. This is a burden you should be able to carry without involving your mom. She doesn't deserve having to have you involved in her and your dad's business. If you can find out who the other woman is, give her hell. You should be able to figure out something to do to her that will run her off.
Edited to add:
If you have the money, go see an attorney to see if you can protect your mom in a contested will or if he remarries. See what it would take to have him committed.
