NEW ORLEANS — Jordan Hipps has had his car broken into so many times, one of the officers who responded asked “You again?”

Nine times. That’s how many times Hipps has had to replace his car windows. Nine times he’s had to take a day off from work to file reports and take his car to the shop. It’s been an expensive, frustrating inconvenience he said.

“My little ones on the other hand, my wife, I’m more worried about them,” he said. “That’ what keeps me up as far as worrying about their safety. That’s why we’re leaving this city.”

Pockets of glass littered several Lakeview streets Tuesday. Police say there were at least 25 vehicle break-ins since Monday night.

Hipps says someone smashed his truck window between 9:45 and 9:50 a.m. today.

“I literally took my daughters for a walk and when I came back, brought them inside. I came back outside to get the stroller and that’s when it happened,” Hipps said. “So, between that span right there of about five minutes it happened.”

The Hipps family is buying a home on the Northshore. Jordan says he believes police will find the car thieves, but after nine break-ins, he has no faith in the court system to keep the culprits off the streets.

You'd figure he would get a street light.

Poor guy just wasn’t visiting the right places. Should have taken his kids to the WW2 Museum.

At what point do you set up a video system? I’d have done that at the second time. They have dash cams for front and rear. Surely you’d think by the 5th it would have dawned on him.

Once you’ve had your car broken in to for the 9th time and you changed nothing…you kind of deserve it somewhat.

I wouldn't have made it anywhere close to 9. I'm thinking 2 would have been my "frick it, I'm out of here" number.

I doubt Jordan actually believes this statement.

And shouldn’t they be called car vandals and not thieves? 25 windows broken and not one car stolen. They just want to destroy property.

It feels like this story was written for the OT.

You'd think he'd learn to not lock his car. It took two broken windows for me to figure that out.

Even if the police do find them, the DA will make sure the kid isn’t prosecuted as an adult and the kid will be out within a week

They all have video systems. They catch the same 13-16yr old kids on the videos every single night. My sisters car was broken into, they had the video, showed the cops. The cop named all 4 kids in the video. Told her he could go pick them up if she wanted him to but they would be out by tomorrow and back in the neighborhood smashing windows again tomorrow night . Said he had picked those kids up a half dozen times already.

Problem is nothing happens to the kids unless they use violence while car jacking you!
