LA Riots were 30 years ago today, any old timers want to explain what that was like?

Have a little app that updates me of major events or stories from the past.

Notified me of the LA riots, did a little reading and went down the Korean rooftop snipers rabbit hole.

George Floyd was the second coming of Rodney King.

Watching Reginald Denny almost get beaten to death live on TV for being a white guy in the wrong place at the wrong time was pretty horrific.

Yep, and the government paid him to publicly forgive the attackers to keep the peace, and they all essentially got off, unless my memory fails me.

ETA: Denny invented the fake cry that Herbstreit used to perfection. Let’s call it the woke and choke back the tears.

Rooftops were some grown arse men. Pretty good documentary on either history or discovery that covers it all.

Well, I was drinking LA on fire shots (probably flaming Dr Peppers) at the purple peecrack in Eunice. Me and friend picked up 2 one night stand ho’s. I get pulled over by the wonderful Eunice police department. They had 6 cops giving me sobriety tests. I passed that antique breatherlizer and haven’t been back to that town since.. that’s what I remember about the riots.. hahahaha

Crazy footage on CNN and others but nothing like what would be caught today. If filmed and shown in today's ways we're used to, things almost certainly would've been out of control in every major city.

Reginald Denny would be blamed for his own beating by CNN if the same situation happened today.

Yeah;
I’ll give you a quick recap:
Black dude was drugged up outta his mind and was lawfully stopped and had outstanding warrants. Would not comply with simple police commands. They used excessive force to make him comply. Black dude was a dumbass and Police could have made him comply without using the excessive force. Whole situation could/should have been avoided.
On the action of a few dumbasses; the entire black community claimed all police were racist and used it as an excuse to loot and pillage.
Sound familiar?

Black people were so angry about the verdict that they targeted Korean businesses.

Of course, they blamed the Koreans for a bunch of shite. Typical.

I remember the marching that occurred on campus that night or the next night. Had a date at the Calendars on Highland. Made the corner into the Herget parking lot and it was full of people yelling no justice, no peace.

Rodney King, not a saint, was clearly roughed up good by police. The black community had complained about it and now had video proof. Yet, officers got away with it.

Pent up hell broke loose.

Reginald Denny wrong place at wrong time is what I remember most. Animal thug who threw brick at his face deserved lifetime of torture.
