It’s more than just cigarette butts. There was a recliner on the side of I12 west for the last two weeks. And if you exit Sherwood at I12, there’s more shite around that overpass than just cigs. Same along Siegen. It’s garbage.
Between the homeless and the normal trashy fricking citizens, this place is a sewer.

I threw out a McDonald’s cup and yelled to them that they missed a spot. I have no problem making them work extra since it’s community service ordered by a judge.

Eastbound I-10 exit at Siegen has a homeless camp about 40 feet into the woods. shite is thrown everywhere trash, tents, you name it. t’s a disgrace that these bums are allowed to trash up our city like this.

I'm fairly certain the O'Neal overpass/intersection has become the worst in Baton Rouge. Any plans to clean that up?

I live blocks away from 290 in Houston and they congregate under the over pass. I’ve observed their little village grow and then about every 2 months, it’s completely cleared of the tents, bikes, trash, etc. Then, they cycle back in small groups until the process repeats.

Friday, I finally saw what clears them out. A Hispanic crew was there with a small backhoe looking machine, like one you could rent from AAA. There was a guy on a bullhorn saying they had one hour. I guess their village gets the backhoe after that, I didn’t stick around. It was funny.

I recommend you send your council member a strongly worded email telling them to get people out there to clean the place up. It’s not as if govt officials are exactly proactive in doing stuff like that…you unfortunately have to bring it to their attention and force their hand in order to get anything done. But it’s amazing that they can make something as simple and menial as trash pick up turn into some sort of bloated, inefficient and overly expensive operation…no wonder it never gets done

For anybody who works in law enforcement, do they actually enforce littering laws. I see plenty of minor traffic enforcement but don't know a single person that has gotten a littering ticket. Maybe I just don't know enough trashy people, I dunno?

They have a FB page

They are better people than I am, no way I could clean up those piles of trash off Siegen

They can’t do that without a permit or a warrant. That guy is trespassing in the homeless encampment. The City has deemed Siegen a sanctuary street.

These people deserve a huge thank you. I’m so glad that residents are doing something about the litter, since Broome and the city DPW are a complete joke and don’t give a shite. The city government doesn’t have time and man power to keep the streets clean or the grass cut, as they are too busy deciding which streets and city buildings need to be renamed because they’re “racist.”

Let’s keep this thread going. I’m not on FB but I’d like to know when the next cleanup day is so I can help. I am sick of the litter. My beef is the college drive area.

Saw their pictures this morning. One of them had a pic of a volunteer picking up trash in front of beggar still sitting there with her sign

Another post said they found 3 of the signs telling people not to give to the bums that they had taken down. Weld those damn things to the posts

Matt Watson was actively involved with cleanup and kudos to him for that during his campaign but not sure if he’s still involved in those endeavors
