I've been to their ball a couple times. The first time was absolutely stunning. The second time I had to start "training" for the event a few months beforehand. It's the best walking Krewe in the city.

I think Avegno was more worried about the people who show up to the parade. A lot of people are not fond of Avegno so she would literally need to be riding in the Pope mobile to “stay safe”.
KDV is way closer to the people too. It parades in the quarter and the Marigny and is still pulled by horses so the floats are very small.

Don’t kid yourself. They would have loved if she paraded as they truly look up to her and those like her. The majority of the sub-Krewes went uber-liberal many years ago and can’t help but follow MSM’s lead and skewer mostly those on the political right even though the left provides a cornucopia of material. And the really lazy sub-Krewes just resort to toilet humor and such. Gee, another phallic float! Awesome! SMDH. Sad.
