Kia Carnival

I recently bought a Kia Carnival and find it to be user unfriendly. It cannot be locked unless the key fob is near and cannot be locked until all doors are shut. Also, the climate control and audio shares one knob and requires toggling two buttons to switch between climate and audio. Nice looking and rides good but very frustrating and takes attention off driving. Any comments or experiences?

I have a telluride and my biggest complaint is the "smart key" stuff. Can't crank it unless the key is literally in the car. It's usually in my wife's purse so while she's putting the kids in it won't crank. I also can't just leave the car running and take the key with me while I run in somewhere or it beeps like crazy

You didn’t notice all of that on the test drive?

Kia is one of the shittiest cars. What did you expect?
Also, this particular problem with Kia and Hyundai is hardly a secret. Until about 3 or 4 years ago, Kia and Hyundai were notorious for constantly having their cars stolen. So now they’ve done these weird things with the keys to prevent their cars from being stolen.

People with bad credit scores who are rejected by every place except for Nissan and Kia/Hyundai. And who apparently choose a Kia among the 3 options they actually have.

I would avoid all things named Kia or Carnival.

What's the point of locking it if the doors aren't shut?

There's an easy workaround for this. Where did you buy it? They didn't show you? Have you looked on YouTube for videos?

Do y’all remember when Kia would give you a free car when you bought a minivan 20 years ago

That was Mitsubishi that did something like that, not Kia/Hyundai. Mitsubishi was the poor person’s car 25 years ago, back when Kia and Hyundai barely existed and Nissan was still considered a respectable middle to upper class oerson’s car.
Mitsubishi is now pretty much gone as a car company due to the growth of Kia and Hyundai, as well as Nissan becoming a car company for poor people. I almost never see a Mitsubishi car on the road that’s less than about 10-15 years old and I’m not sure if they even make cars at all anymore. Mitsubishi’s car business was always pretty much just a side business, with their real money coming from their plane making business.

I know of setting either the climate or audio to a default. Mine is set to climate. However switching to audio requires toggling two buttons.

Did you not test drive and discover any of this shite before you bought it?

Just wait til you find out the motor block is cracked after 20k miles. The key stuff will be an after thought

That's not just a Kia thing, that's many manufacturers and its annoying as hell.
