Maybe legal gambling wasn’t such a good idea after all. I mean there’s no way this has unintended consequences right?

I love gambling, whether it be on sports, table games, or slots, but Kalshi and Polymarket is insane. It's not even a personal liberty thing anymore, the ability to bet large sums of money on events that have real world outcomes for other people is safety risk.

“Sorry folks, looks like we’re going to need to rely takeoff. I just spilled my coffee all over the controls and it’ll probably take about an 2 hours to clean up”
Place a huge bet and do that on your first flight of the day. Boom you just won on that and any flights you’re scheduled for later.

this and gooning are the two biggest societal challenges facing young men today and im worried that we have already let it go too far I'm usually a pretty big live and let live person but these things are stuff that I would welcome some pretty hard governmental regulation over
Between that and venture capital/private equity gutting everything they can like a plague of locusts, it’s not hard to imagine a horrific future.
Add the clearly forced migration throughout the west and no real way to stop it and it’s looking bleak.
It’s like the powerful folks figured out the James Harden strategy of aggressively living in the margins of the rules. And instead of it resulting in a bunch of 40 point games, it’s uh, our lives.

Pulling back from the gate and sitting there isn't in time
I need wheels up bets

i need to bet landing times. It would be thrilling to hear the pilot come on the speaker and let everyone know they are making up time in the air
the most degenerate thing ive bet on was the length of catholic weddings. Set the o/u at an hour, every takes over. It always came in just under

Long ago this has become stupid. Now some tarmac light waving guy will make sure he wins his bet.

Friend A: Put $500,000 bet on a flight being delayed
Friend B, different last name: When plane is on tarmac about to push back causes ruckus, fakes fainting, or intentionally vomits in the aisle, forcing flight to return to gate
Friends split pot.
Now what does that mean in practice? In your example, you'd be betting 500k to win less than $1000. No one is doing that.

pilots and stewardess will delay flights on purpose and make a ton of $
Airlines should get in on the game. When you book your ticket, for an extra cost you can bet on if your flight gets delayed. If your flight is delayed except for certain exceptions like weather, you can receive a free flight credits for your next trip depending on the severity of the delay.
Airlines could setup bonus for employees to maintain flights on schedule.
