Just returned from my rte 66 trip

It is the centennial celebration of rte 66. It was a great 2 week road trip all the way to Santa Monica pier. I was surprised to meet so many people from around the world who were here to tour rte 66. They were on busses, in vans, and rode in motorcycle groups. I was able to stay in 3 of the old classic hotels along the route, the Boots in Carthage Mo., the LA Pasada in Winslow Az., and the El Vado in Albuquerque NM. I highly recommend this nostalgic road trip

I started in Carthage MO. I had already traveled Illinois during my trucking years enough. I also included trips off 66 to Monument Valley and Sedona.

Yes that stretch of 66 from Kingman to Seligman Az is awesome. Sorry I'm not tech savvy to upload photos, and yes I took tons of photos

Pretty cool! I was supposed to start my Kingman, AZ to Chicago portion of the trip yesterday but it's been delayed. Looking forward to it!

When you got to Santa Monica, did you drive all the way back east? I’ve thought about doing the whole Route 66 and flying to Chicago, rent a car, drive to SM and then fly back to NOLA.

I flew to Dallas, rented a car, drove to my starting point in Carthage MO. Stayed at the historic Boots motel, room 6 , same room Clark Gable stayed in 1942! Drove to Santa Monica and then back home to Florida.

If the photos are on your phone, I don’t mind giving you a quick tutorial on uploading them.

At least upload a picture of you standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona. Would be such a fine site to see.

I would encourage anyone who has a shred of love for the ol' USofA to travel Route 66. Last September was my first time hitting portions of 66 in Arizona, and i can't wait to go back. Pulling into Kingman as the sun set and the neon came on was awesome and an experience bound for extinction.

The sheer volume of JFK assassination-related material that has been created over the last 60 years never ceases to amaze me.
