Scale of 1-10. 10 being a third world country

Prospective job there. Have been in BR for about 7 years and Mobile before that. So I'm pretty used to shitty cities.

Job would be a significant step up in pay and position.

Take the gig and live outside the city limits. Just don’t get caught out after dark

where's the job exactly? I wouldn't live in Jackson proper...go to either Madison or Rankin County...

I’d rather live in Madison, MS than any Louisiana suburb. Jackson sucks but their suburb game has come up.

On a scale from north Baton Rouge to Chicago, it's a "you have dirt on Hillary so watch the frick out".

Worst part. A couple of the suburbs are actually rather nice for a small southern city in a shitty state, but when you drive through there you feel like you're on a pogo stick.

Take the job, just don’t live in Jackson. Jackson is probably a 9 on your scale.

Oddly enough, as bad as Jackson is, Baton Rouge doesn’t have anything remotely close to how nice Madison is.

In those other two places, you are a 1-2 hour drive (or even less) to something that is decidedly NOT those two places.

In Jackson you are at least 3 hours away from anything resembling 21st century civilization.

Not familiar with the area but it's at Entergy. Office job - not in any of the plants. Looks like there are quite a few Entergy locations there both in and out of Jackson proper.

Scruffy has some good friends who moved to Jackson after medical school.

He has visited and can definitively say that it is better than Shreveport, but still a shithole.

If you are comfortable taking the job you will be fine.

People on this board go crazy like where you live defines you. If you already have the work, I don’t see the problem.

Jackson isn't too bad.

It could be worse...the job could be in El Paso, TX.
