Not familiar with the area but it's at Entergy. Office job - not in any of the plants. Looks like there are quite a few Entergy locations there both in and out of Jackson proper.

Yes they have a large portion of business done there and Little Rock. Depends on if it is nuclear or transmission function.

So I'm pretty used to shitty cities.

let me put it this way, it's like a shitty BR or Mobile, but completely full of people from Mississippi.

I find this odd too. Honestly if my family is doing well I don't really give much of a shite where I live right now. As long as we are making good money and I can send my kid to a decent school it doesn't really matter to me.

This might be the best analogy yet. I think I'm beginning to get the picture.

I’ve lived in NELA, SELA, BR, Charlotte NC, Upstste SC, and now Jackson MS suburbs.

Jackson suburbs are not last on that list.

I'm late 20s single with no kids and no SO. Guess I should have added that to the OP. Sounds like Jackson would not be a great place to find a future wife

It's a bigger Mobile. Take that as you will.

7-8.

Find a nice place in the suburbs and avoid Jackson proper when possible.

You can't go wrong with working in Jackson and living in either Madison or Rankin counties. I have also lived in Mobile and BR and I like it 10x better here than the others.

I'm not going to sugar coat it.

Jackson is bad. Its terrible, even. There are parts of Jackson that are worse than Mogadishu.

But the suburbs are great. Madison is a great place to raise a family and the Reservoir is a beautiful area.

The right money and willingness to live in the suburbs can change your life. A $100k job can give you a pretty damn high standard of living, but there isn't much to do.

Just saw that you are single.

Live in the 047. That's the Flowood/Reservoir area. Madison is awesome but really family oriented. Reservoir has a lot more singles. Buy a boat and enjoy it.

I actually think Jackson (city proper) has more potential than Montgomery (city proper).

Absolutely. Jackson could be awesome.

But when development is turned down because it is being done by white people, you cant get very far.
