Just Came Across a Fellow Professional Who Discounted Greek Life in College

Seems to me any self-respecting man would value the timeless traditions of fraternities, and seek to earn admittance through pledgeship and join the ranks of brotherhood among his fellow gentlemen of campus.
But I often hear adult men, obviously unfamiliar with the benefits and pride that comes with joining a fraternity, make disparaging comments along the lines of 'I wasn't paying for friends' and the like.
If you analyze the biographies of men in power, I think you will find most were members of a social fraternity. The lessons learned there along with the bonds of brotherhood no doubt shaped their careers as makers of this fine country. I know it played a significant role in shaping my college experience, and I still have fond memories of my time in college because of my fraternity.
I am a proud member of the Legion of Honor. What fraternity were you in?

I'm fairly positive you're over valuing your fake, judgemental friends.

I wasn't in a fraternity but don't blame anyone who was. Felt like my glory years were high school and was ready to move on. Typically worked ~30 hours a week as well as took a full time load didn't leave a ton of time for the stuff it seemed like fraternity guys had to do, plus I really wasn't a drinker. Made a couple of good friends in the dorms that were in fraternities. Seemed like they had a pretty good time with it. It just wasn't my thing.

Most of my best friends today, some 35 years later, are old frat buddies. I have almost none from High School. If you weren't in a frat that's fine too, but don't criticize something you never experienced.

You paid for friends and to feel like you belong for a lifetime. All these warm fuzzy feelings came at a price. I didn't feel the urge to belong so bad but good for you.

I stole the copies of tests myself. No need to buy friends to perpetrate crimes I can do by myself.
