Sorry I triggered you by saying I got as much out of college for a fraction of the cost.

No.....no you didn't. Did you have The Molly Ringwalds, Bog of Donuts, Etc. play in your living room after every home game? Did you have parties with literally 300+ people almost every weekend? Did you constantly walk into your room after a game and have attractive girls you've never met just hanging out on your couch because you basically live in a mansion that is perfect for a party(albeit a very shitty one )? Did you rent out bars and take bus trips there. Did you rent out tiki tubing just for you and your friends? Did you get recognized by the university as an organization, so you got tickets on the 20 yard line and didn't have to wait in the line for the student section 2 hours before kickoff just to get a decent seat?

No......no, you didn't do any of that. Damned GDI's just don't get it. None of that makes you a fahg or a douche. It makes you smart with your money. I did a year without the frat and met a bunch of guys in a particular fraternity. Ended up rushing as a sophomoore and choosing that fraternity. It was like going from 0 to 60 in terms of social scene. You can 100% have a great social life without a fraternity. It just takes it and perfects it like a machine. I rarely talk to most people in the fraternity anymore. It's not like I met my best friends in the world, although I did make friends and had a blast while I there.

Yeah, but you only had to suck a dude's dick to get all that so was it really worth it?

Maybe none of that actually interests me, ever think of that?

We went on canoe trips (with women too, not just a bunch of dudes), we had parties, we sat on the first row at the 20. We had bonfires, formal dances, did philanthropic work. We had our own place to hang out.

I wasn't in a frat, but we sure has hell did a lot of what the frats on campus did, minus the mansion and bar parties. Wasn't our thing.

Not sure why this bothers you so much. I have nothing against frats. Just didn't see the point in being in one when I got largely the same experience. I had a good time in college, still hang out with friends I made through that club, and largely look back on my college days as some good times.

Bothers me??? I think you got the wrong guy on that one. I made a post on the second page in response to a guy saying he made the same amount of friends "without spending an arm and a leg". I just pointed out that it can actually be a cost effective way to have a college experience that is pretty much not possible any other way. For a frat thread to have nothing but up votes when taking a side, I'd say that's a pretty level headed well received post.

You then got defensive and said you did the same thing for $15 a semester, and that I was "triggered" by you (I hadn't even seen a post from you in the thread) . And that you "owned their frat boy asses in intramurals".

Maybe you should take some time for self reflection. Even in this post you had to talk about how you went on trips too "with women, not just a bunch of dudes" (as if we went with just guys and not an entire sorority of girls ). GDI's get so pissy and you can't respond to them without them trying to make it seem like you're the pissy one.

I'll admit "talking up" the stuff we got to do in my last post was a douchey thing, but you asked for that. I've got no problem with people who aren't greek in general. My wife wasn't greek and has kept in touch with college friends wayyyyy more than me. But she didn't experience close to the same things that I did, and she'd tell you that as well.

You need to go back and read this thread. You responded to me first, you idiot.

So basically, my first post did get under your skin, because you don't even remember responding to me, just an idea that ruffled your feathers.

I've got nothing against non-greeks. I get along with all sorts. I just hate the people who start the greek hate "you bought your friends" petty bullshite.

I can't. Even just having a few last night and staying up for the game has wrecked my day.

Hey geeds, do any of you play a recreational sport?
Is there an entry fee for the league? Do you love hanging out with every member on the team? Oh what'd you say, no- some of the people on the team are douchebags? but you like the sport and some of the other people on the team so it's worth it? got it.

I played ball and drank your free beer and shots.......thanks for that, brotherman.

ETA: While I harbor zero hate for the Greeks (actually was fond of them), our organization was/is based on being the God-gifted elite. We were/are the blessed that none of you could ever dare to become. We were/are the true Alphas.

ehhh, didn't realize it was you. Why that kind of came out of left field. I wasn't triggered by shite though. Just saying it didn't cost me an arm or a leg. You're the one that flew off the handle.

I actually opened this thread to make fun of the OP for being a troll. I saw your comment about costs and just wanted to dispel a commonly held misunderstanding. Not really bothered by it at all. I sure as hell don't mind people thinking I have tons of disposable income . But the reality was my parents were far from rich and the experience saved me some money.

No. But it does here. I was a GDI for 2 years, them joined a frat. As a GDI I hated frats. I quickly realized how clueless most GDI's are.

I've gotten 2 jobs now that I can attribute to being in a fraternity. Say what you want, but it's helped my career. I didn't get gifted a job I wasn't qualified for, but getting that foot in the door is always a plus.
