I was a KA. Was fun at the time.
.
Looking back, would have been better off working harder at the books than broads, booze and buds.

I was way more concerned with studying, drinking, getting fricked up and partying than "slaying poon" all the time. Good for you I guess.

Did your parents pay your dues? If so then technically your parents paid for your friends. Sounds even lamer that way

None.

Scruffy didn't pay for friends.

But you do speak in third person which is far worse.

I've never understand fraternities. You join randomly, right? I can understand joining an organization of people that have a like mind, regarding religion, worldview, etc, but I don't understand joining a random group and then just becoming best buds with that random group. It's just rather odd to me.

I was recruited for a frat once in college and politely declined.

I can see how it would be appealing to someone who doesn't know anyone at the college though I guess.

I was in a fraternity and some of my best friends came from it.

With that said, OP...you sound like a tool. Nothing is more pathetic than a grown man (or even an undergrad) taking fraternity stuff seriously. Enjoy the downvote.

There's an, ahem, courtship period where both sides are feeling each other up/out.

None. Unless of course you count a real fraternity - serving in the military.

College frats are for guys who want a brotherhood but were to big of pussies to sign on a line that may have cost them their lives.

They spend the rest of their lives talking about brotherhood because they walked around a circle holding another mans Johnson while others watched.

Seems to me any self-respecting man would value the timeless traditions of fraternities, and seek to earn admittance through pledgeship and join the ranks of brotherhood among his fellow gentlemen of campus.

I'm not much of a follower. I guess I was born with too much self confidence. I've never been saddled with looking outside myself for approval and acceptance.

But whatever's for you....

A good number of my friends in college were in frats and for the life of me I couldn't understand what the appeal of it was.

I remember freshman year one night my friend and I had a huge biology test the next day but he couldn't study because the actives for the frat he was pledging made him drive their drunk asses all around town until 4 in the morning. His #1 justification for it was "the parties", but that following Saturday I attended their frat party, got free drinks, and didn't have to clean up the mess afterwards. And I aced the bio test.

Damn it feels good to be a GDI

The lessons learned there along with the bonds of brotherhood no doubt shaped their careers as makers of this fine country. I know it played a significant role in shaping my college experience, and I still have fond memories of my time in college because of my fraternity.

I got all this and much more playing high school football.
