Consider it a tax on stupidity. No one forces them to give money. And if they have a full understanding of what they are giving to, its their choice. Mind your own business.

This is solid work, his prayers are probably worth 10x that of an ordinary person.

His prayers don't make it past the ceiling.

Our church had Katrina refugees for about a month or so in the gym... and I'm in Memphis.

You assume he and his church are doing nothing?

Joel has nothing to do with religion. His sermons are inspirational and uplifting, but have nothing to do with religious themes.

I'm no Osteen fan, he doesn't preach the gospel, but I suspect it's not safe to try to get there or get out of there.

Exactly, not sure why he's expected to open his business to anyone in Houston

Mattress Mack didn't seem to mind opening his businesses.

Gallery Furniture isn't opening their galleria location, I noticed. Because of flooding nearby.

He could open Lakewood, sure, but I'm not sure anyone including support staff could get there.

What he should be doing is partnering with churches and groups in current shelters and helping them out.

That's objectively untrue. He's got one of the most profitable churches on Earth. A local church can't even come close.

Krista needs to intern with Osteen for awhile so she can learn when to register as a LLC and how to make a lot of money by becoming a non-profit.

He also doesn't collect the $200,000 salary from the church.

Pretty sure his salary comes from real estate ventures, book deals, and speaking engagements.

It's not that they're doing nothing, but opening your stadium-church that fits thousands of newly homeless people is no doubt better than anything they're doing outside of donating thousands of dollars.

I've been to several churches that prove your statement wrong.

How? Like the community aspect or the money aspect? These non denominational ones that throw around cash like a money launderer are sketchy, but I haven't seen many Catholic churches anywhere near that level.

Well, for starters, you said huge reach. I probably wouldn't have responded if you would have left that out.

Secondly, when the workers of the church follow the same 20/80 rule as businesses something's up with the congregations.

Is Osteen the one with ATMs at the entrances for people get out cash to give?

Or is that the place in BR? (or both?)

We really need an Osteen hooker and blow scandal. Preferably a male hooker.

I'm pretty sure his church salary is in excess of $2 million annually.

Every church in my area was closed for servive yesterday. This story is bogus. That church draws from the entire Houston area. The emergency personnel did not want people out & about unless it was an emergency.

I'm no Osteen fan but that church has done plenty for Houston. Article has an axe to grind.
