quote:Same. The job I’m at now has approached me about leadership a few times and I’ve just said “not interested. I like being responsible for myself”.
I've tried the management route in the past and I absolutely hated it. Being the one everyone comes to with problems looking for a solution all day every day is not for me. frick that, let me do my job and only my job.

Wife (no pics) is HR manager and today she has to fire two salary employees. One of the employees is a don't let you the door hit you on the way out employee but the other she has had a good relationship with. She was down about having to let her friend go today. The shite I hear when she works from home from dumb asses not doing their job and making up bs to weekend calls from employees that miss flights has me thankful that I don't have her job.
This is wild…. You should delete this. Does her company know she is overpaid and doesn’t take her title seriously?
An HR director is legally and ethically required to keep employee information confidential everywhere, including at home.
Bet if she reads her own co-signed literature she will see it violates company policy and employment agreements
Some of the shite people don’t think twice about posting is insane

Any type of mining job a mile below the surface. No chance of getting out if something goes wrong.

Any job on the west side of LA 1 in WBR/Iberville. I know the plants pay well, but that afternoon traffic from Brusly over the Intercoastal to EBR is a deal breaker for me.
Now if you lived on the west side, it wouldn't be so bad. But every day I drive home and see that line of traffic trying to cross back over to EBR, I think, nah, I'm good.

You are able to deduce the name of this company and the two employees in question from his post?

Everyone glamorizes being a coroner but I just don't think I could handle the smell of formaldehyde all day.
Tell me you have no clue what coroners do without telling me you have no clue......................
Nothing like doing an autopsy on a body 6 days into decomposition, bloated, covered in maggots, putrid smelling flesh and organs----------enough to gag a maggot.
Once you smell a rotting body, it is something you NEVER forget.

UPS drivers make six figures but you work before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down.
Not before the sun comes up but they do work long hours. In the contract they can ask for something like 2 half days a month. A half day is termed as an 8 hour day. When I was a preloader the drivers would cuss me out when I loaded them on their 8 hour day. Acting like the kid making $8 an hour is making the decision of how many stops to put on their truck.

No HR manager ever did my dirty work of firing.

Been an oilfield baw for 30 years. It's been a ride. Started out scrubbing decks and now sitting at a desk! Look at me now!
Will retire at 55.

Honest question. Are you saying that basically some grunt wires up top and then the master electrician wires up the circuit board or something?
Master electricians shouldn't be doing much residential work, if any, other than for cash on the side.

They have never done it at any place that I have worked. They are there to collect their laptop, company phone, and tell them about their last paycheck. No one is HR actually fires anyone.
A woman being dramatic about her job, who knew.

Oldest "was" a forensic pathologist and worked in another state doing "forensic" autopsies for the county. Seeing the result of so much violent death finally pushed him to step away and seek a different career path.
I guess being Ducky or Jimmy on NCIS isn't for everyone.

Coroners by and large don’t do autopsies, pathologists do.
Coroner is usually an elected position, technically you don’t even have to have medical experience to get the job.
