Master electrician (not to turn this into a trades argument). I’m afraid of electrocuting myself. Plus, it seems really hot in attics in the summer.
If you have a master's license and you're roughing in residential homes in the attic you completely missed the point of obtaining said license

I never have once heard anybody glamorize a coroner.

A tow driver that picks up wrecked vehicles. A guy I knew... He is actually dead now, owned a wrecker service. He told me about shite he has seen at car wrecks, one time they had to leave the body in the truck and go to the wreck yard to retrieve it. Getting to a scene where a mother with two kids in the vehicle was killed, one of the kids was killed and the other kid was untouched and had to be in the vehicle with his dead mom and sister in the car for a good 15-20 mins.
The vehicle was in a ditch and somehow the car was emerged to the degree they couldn't get the doors open. There were two options. Cut out the top of the vehicle or pull out the car to gain access to the doors. The decision was made to pull the car out because they felt like it was safer. They didn't want something to happen while cutting the roof and somehow something falls on the kid.
I guess I should say anyone who shows up at tragic wrecks or anything tragic really.

Large majority are elected officials and most are not physicians, so pay isn't "well"

You are able to deduce the name of this company and the two employees in question from his post?
He is a convicted felon after all.

quote:Ditto this. I'm an extra set of eyes/ears from time to time. Today I read through their advised employee handbook and an dumbfounded by every detail having to be in it. How hard is it to show up when you're supposed to, do your work, and leave when you're supposed to?
Wife (no pics) is HR manager and today she has to fire two salary employees. One of the employees is a don't let the door hit you on the way out employee but the other she has had a good relationship with. ... The shite I hear when she works from home from dumb asses not doing their job and making up bs to weekend calls from employees that miss flights has me thankful that I don't have her job.
She moved up rapidly so she's had to deal with people who she had built relationships with. One of them thought they were going to get away with all kinds of missed time due to personal issues. She dropped the hammer and didn't think twice about it. OTOH, some of the stories are heartbreaking. Good newly employed people trying to get on their feet but can't kick an addiction are the worst. They offer them jobs and give them a few days to take a drug test. Yet they can't stay clean long enough to piss clean. Then you have the idiots that don't know their worth. Sorry dude but you're not getting hired to be a 2nd shift janitor at $25/hour.

UPS drivers make six figures but you work before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down.
I grew up lower middle class and thought “6 figures” would be the dream. Made more money than I knew was possible in my career. And at times worked ridiculous hours. Never saw light of day. Global job so round the clock access to me. Ridiculous.
Learned that time > money. Can always get more money. But not time!
Protect your time with all your might!!! I don’t care how much they pay you.

The job I’m at now has approached me about leadership a few times and I’ve just said “not interested. I like being responsible for myself”.
Exactly me. No management.
My overlords keep coming at me to lead a team and every time I politely decline. Ive been there once and said never again will my evaluation be based on some other persons adamant refusal to do their job.
Now the VP starts his pitch with “I know you are happy in your role, but…”
The money would be better, but not worth it.

Then you don't know any. They invest a significant amount of money to be elected to said job. That's Glam.

Garbage man.
$60,000 / $65,000 a year depending on location and experience.
Decent money. But nah. I'm good.

How did your wrecker driver buddy know how long they’d been in the car? Did he set up a timer when they went off the road?

My first thought as well, “Here’s your stainless steel grounded suit, now get your arse out on the wing of the chopper, we had it built just for you”
